
Buckeyes Secure Big Ten Tournament Bid, will Face Michigan in Round One

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Following a series win over No. 25 Washington, Ohio State softball (26-26) will hit the road for the Big Ten Tournament, hosted by the University of Maryland. Ohio State will face Michigan (33-19) in its first-round matchup.
The Buckeyes are seeded No. 8, with Michigan the No. 9 seed. The winner will move on to face No. 1 seeded Nebraska in the quarter-final at 1:30 p.m. Each game of the tournament will be aired live on Big Ten Network, with links to live stats available on the schedule page at OhioStateBuckeyes.com and in-game updates provided on the official Ohio State Softball X account, @OhioStateSB.

Ohio State continues to establish itself one of the conference's premier offenses, swinging a cumulative .308 and slugging .647, a percentage good for sixth in the nation. The Buckeyes' 119 home runs trail only UCLA in the conference and rank third nationally.
Hadley Parisien leads the squad in average, batting .370 with a 1.401 OPS that is tied for fifth-best among Big Ten hitters. Parisien also boasts a team-leading slugging percentage of .908.
Abbie Wilhelm and Taylor Cruse stand at the forefront of Ohio State's run production, with 97 RBI between the two of them. Cruse has 21 home runs on the year, with Wilhelm leading at 24. The pair rank third and fourth respectively in the Big Ten. Wilhelm's 24 home runs sit just one shy of tying Ohio State's single season record of 25, set by Jasmyn Burns in the 2025 season.

Pitchers Jenna Molk (16-14) and Lorin Boutte (7-6) combine for all but three of Ohio State's regular season wins. Molk leads the pitching stable in ERA, innings pitched, strikeouts and has eight of the Buckeyes' 13 conference wins.
Lorin Boutte has picked up five of Ohio State's seven most recent wins, averaging 4.6 strikeouts in those wins. Boutte fanned 17 over 11.2 innings of the Michigan series and holds an ERA of just 1.67 in her five most recent victories.

In poetic fashion, conference-rivals Ohio State and Michigan stand in each other's way of advancement in the Big Ten Tournament. Michigan finished the regular season 33-19, with a 11-13 mark in conference play. The Wolverines took a 2-1 series win over the Buckeyes earlier this season but were run ruled 13-2 in the series finale that featured seven Ohio State home runs. Lauren Putz leads the offense, batting .460, with 21 home runs and 77 RBI. She cracks top five in the conference in each of those categories.
Michigan is hitting .313 altogether, holding opponents to a .273 average. The Wolverine pitching stable has a cumulative ERA of 4.35, led in wins by Gabby Ellis (11-6) and in strikeouts by two-way player, Erin Hoehn (95).
