Buckeye Women Qualify Six Entries to the NCAA Championships

The Buckeye women will send four individuals and two relay squads to Eugene.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team wrapped up competition at the NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Ky. on Saturday.

The Buckeye women had a strong showing on Saturday with a ticket to the NCAA Championships on the line. Morgan Hallett began the day by qualifying for the discus finals in Eugene with a best throw of 54.74m/179'7". Aniya Mosley joined Hallett as an individual event qualifier by finishing fourth overall in the 1500m (4:10.01). Janela Spencer finished fourth in the 100m hurdles to clinch a qualifying spot. Her time (12.79) places her third on the Buckeyes' all-time performers list. Laila Campbell punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships in the 200m with a time of 22.82.

Ohio State's relays ran well as the 4x100m relay (Bobbi Olive, Spencer, Sydney Bryant, Laila Campbell) qualified to compete in Eugene with a season-best time of 43.57. The Buckeye women matched their season-best in the 4x400m relay (3:29.81) with Kiara Webb, Michaela McCall, Campbell and Naomi Clarke moving onto the NCAA Championships.

- Women's 100m Hurdles: Spencer's time (12.79) places her third on the Buckeyes' all-time performers list and was fast enough to qualify for a spot in Eugene.
- Women's 400m Hurdles: Tatum Lynn's personal-best time (56.57) puts her third among the fastest Buckeyes in event history.
- Women's 200m: Campbell's PR (22.82) was good for eighth overall and a trip to Eugene.
- Women's 4x400m Relay: Webb, McCall, Campbell and Clarke will compete in the NCAA Championships after matching their season-best time (3:29.81) and finishing ninth overall.
- Men's 100m: Brown recorded a time of 10.30 in the quarterfinals.
- Men's 110m Hurdles: Brann improved on his own school record and earned an automatic qualification into the semifinals with a 13.28.Â
- Men's 200m: John won his heat in 20.27 and earned a spot in the semifinals. Brown (20.90), Brann (20.98) and Calhoun (21.10) all competed in the quarterfinal.
- Men's 400m: Edidiong Udo crossed the line in 45.30.
- Men's 400m Hurdles: Frabotta moved into third on the school's all-time performers list in the event after recording a PB 49.62. Charmar Smith finished the race with a time of 51.85.
- Men's 4x100m Relay: Calhoun, Brown, John, and Biega turned in the second fastest time in heat one (38.79) and will advance to the semifinal in Eugene.
- Men's 4x400m Relay: With a season-best time of 3:00.99, Carmichael, Frabotta, Louis, and Udo earned an automatic qualification to the semifinals.
- Women's 100m: Laila Campbell finished in 11.52.
- Women's 100m Hurdles: Janela Spencer earned an automatic qualification into the quarterfinals after winning her heat with a time of 12.83, while Olivia Powell crossed the line in 13.42.
- Women's 200m: Campbell claimed a spot in the quarterfinals after finishing third in her heat with a time of 23.23.
- Women's 400m: Kiara Webb earned a personal-best 52.23.Â
- Women's 400m Hurdles: Tatum Lynn qualified for the quarterfinals with a time of 57.71.
- Women's 800m: Naomi Clarke crossed the line in 2:05.88.
- Women's 1500m: Aniya Mosley led her heat with a time of 4:10.70 and will race in Saturday's quarterfinals.
- Men's 100: Brown secured a spot in the event quarterfinals with a time of 10.15. John ran a 10.31, while Calhoun recorded a 10.36.
- Men's 110m Hurdles: Brann advanced to Friday's quarterfinals by winning his heat with a PB and school record time of 13.31.
- Men's 200 Meters: John (20.30), Brann (20.46), Brown (20.60) and Calhoun (20.71) all advanced to the event quarterfinals. Nick Biega recorded a time of 20.92.
- Men's 400 Meters: Udo earned an automatic qualification into Friday's quarterfinals with a 45.39. Carmichael recorded a time of 46.12 and Louis registered a 46.89.
- Men's 400 Meter Hurdles: Frabotta (50.43) and Smith (50.84) both recorded career-best times en route to securing spots in the event quarterfinals.
- Men's 800 Meters: Jaxson Eckert crossed the line in 1:48:73.
Saturday, May 30
- Women's Discus Throw: Hallett secured a bid to Eugene with her best throw going for 54.74m/179'7" as she finished 10th overall.
- Women's Hammer Throw: Sophie Bidwell competed in the first round and recorded a mark of 58.21m/190'11".
- Women's Pole Vault: Sophie Fong and Nicole Grimes both cleared 3.92m/12'10.25" in the semifinals.
- Women's Shot Put: Morgan Hallett registered a distance of 14.94m/49'.25" on her second throw of the day.
- Men's Long Jump: DJ Fillmore recorded a mark of 7.62m/25'0" on his third attempt of the day, while Victor Tornstrom jumped 5.94m/19'6".
