Castelli Establishes Program Record on Second Day of Big Ten Championships

The Buckeyes earned 11 event final qualifications on Saturday.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team competed at the second day of the 2026 Big Ten Outdoor Championships on Saturday in Lincoln, Neb.
Katie Castelli's program best in the women's 3000m steeplechase was the highlight on a day that saw the Buckeyes earn 11 qualifying spots across six different event finals. Castelli crossed the line in 9:57.59, securing a second-place finish and earning eight points for the Ohio State women. Castelli held the previous school record in the event, registering a 10:04.34 at the Raleigh Relays earlier this year.
Edidiong Udo also moved up in the Ohio State record books after leading all competitors in the men's 400m prelims with a personal-best 44.91. His time moves him into third on the program's all-time best performers list.

- Women's 400m: Kiara Webb earned a spot in the event final with a PB 52.34, while Tianna Spinks qualified by placing first in her heat with a time of 52.78.
- Men's 400m: Udo recorded the best time of any competitor in prelims to earn a spot in Sunday's final, crossing the line in a PB 44.91. Noah Carmichael also qualified after crossing the line with a PB 45.70.
- Women's 100m: Laila Campbell qualified for the event final with a PB 11.46.
- Men's 100m: Kyler Brown won his heat with a time of 10.27 and will compete in Sunday's final alongside Nazzio John (10.44), who recorded the best time in heat one.
- Women's 100m Hurdles: Janela Spencer won her heat in 13.00, while Olivia Powell earned qualification with a time of 13.57.
- Men's 110m Hurdles: Braxton Brann earned an automatic qualification after winning heat one in 13.56. Malik Mixon qualified for Sunday's final with a PB 14.06.
- Men's 800m: Jaxson Eckert finished with a PB time of 1:47.19.
- Women's 3000m Steeplechase: Katie Castelli improved on her own program record, crossing the line in 9:57.59 and placing second.
Friday, May 15
- Women's 400m Hurdles: Tatum Lynn claimed an automatic qualifying spot in Sunday's final by winning her heat (58.65) and finishing fourth overall.
- Men's 400m Hurdles: Lucas Tornstrom (53.22) and Damon Frabotta (54.95) competed in the prelims.
- Women's 200m: Campbell qualified for the 200m final by finishing fifth overall (22.80). Sydney Bryant finished in 23.49.
- Men's 200m: All five Buckeyes finished in the top 12 in the field and three qualified for the finals on Sunday. Brown won his heat and finished third overall (20.27), while John (20.29) and Nick Biega (20.36) also punched their ticket to Sunday's final. Dominic Calhoun (20.46) and Brann (20.47) were just hundredths of a second away from qualifying.
- Women's 1500m: Aniya Mosley won her heat (4:22.78) to automatically qualify for the finals. Her time was ninth overall.
- Men's 1500m: Will McGraw led the way for the Buckeyes (3:48.35). Cooper Citro (3:57.53) and Colin Cernansky (3:57.64) also competed in the event.
- Women's 10000m: Audrey DeSantis (35:56.73) and Teodora Iovi (36:49.58) competed in the event.

- Men's Decathlon: Victor Tornstrom finished fourth overall with 7223 points and Sopuluchi Anosike placed ninth with a personal-best 6524 points.
- 110m Hurdles: Anosike (14.87) earned a sixth-place finish while Tornstrom (15.70) placed 11th.
- Discus Throw: Tornstrom (39.29m/128'11") and Anosike (31.29m/102'8") both earned PB's, placing fourth and 11th respectively.
- Pole Vault: Victor Tornstrom placed third (4.60m/15'1"), while Anosike cleared a PB 3.70m/12'1.5" and placed tenth.
- 1500m: Tornstrom secured a fifth-place finish after crossing the line in 5:00.57. Anosike finished 11th in 5:15.01.
- Women's High Jump: Callia Harris recorded a PB height of 1.67m/5'5.75".
- Men's Long Jump: Brian Kellon registered a PB 7.21m/13'8.25" on his second jump of the day.
- Men's Decathlon: After the first five events of the decathlon, Tornstrom sits in fifth place with 3,978 points and Anosike is 11th with 3,755 points.
- 100m: Tornstrom's 10.78 was good for fifth, while Anosike ran a PR (10.98) in the event.
- Long Jump: Tornstrom won the event with the three-best marks of the competition. He improved upon each mark with his final jump going for 7.60m/24'11.25". Anosike finished fifth with a best mark of 7.17m/23'6.75".
- Shot Put: Tornstrom's best mark (12.60m/41'4.25") earned him a spot in the top eight. Anosike had a personal-best mark of 10.50m/34'5.5".
- High Jump: Anosike finished fifth by clearing 1.94m/6'4.25" on his second attempt. Tornstrom cleared 1.79m/5'10.5" on his first attempt.
- 400m: Tornstrom was the runner-up in his heat, finishing fourth overall (49.32), while Anosike was eighth overall with a personal-best time of 50.96.
- Men's Hammer Throw: Brandt Morlock notched a personal-best mark of 59.45m/195', while Jack Knapke's best throw of the day measured 56.64m/185'10".
- Women's Hammer Throw: Morgan Hallett led the way for the Buckeyes with a best mark of 53.84m/176'8".
- Women's Pole Vault: Nicole Grimes recorded two PR's in today's competition. She now sits third among the program's all-time leaders in the event (4.13m/13'6.5"). Sophie Fong cleared 4.03m/2.5" on her first attempt.
