Buckeyes Sweep Nebraska for First Time in Program History

Game Recap
- The Buckeyes got on the board in the bottom of the first, 1-0, after a solo home run from Noah Furcht.
- Henry Kaczmar doubled to right field to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning. With one out, Dane Harvey walked. Maddix Simpson stepped up next and he went yard to plate three runs. Mason Eckelman was next at the dish and he also hit a long ball, extending the Buckeye lead to five, 5-0.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Furcht hit his second solo home run of the day to put the Buckeyes ahead, 6-0.
- Eckelman led off with his second home run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Ohio State a 7-0 lead over Nebraska.
- The Cornhuskers got on the board after an RBI single in the top of the seventh frame, but the Buckeyes had a comfortable lead, 7-1.
- With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Kaczmar hit a solo home run. Furcht then singled to left center and stole second. Harvey was next up at the dish, and he sent a two-run bomb out of the park to put Ohio State ahead by nine, 10-1.
- In the top of the ninth, reliever Jake Michalak struck out the side to secure the Buckeye sweep.
- The Buckeyes' seven home runs were the most in a game since seven against UCONN on March 1, 2009.
- This is the fifth series the Buckeyes have swept this season, with three of those sweeps coming against Big Ten opponents (Minnesota, Maryland, Nebraska).
- Furcht and Eckelman led the Buckeyes with three hits each. Kaczmar and Harvey each had two hits.
- Simpson led the Buckeyes with three RBIs. Furcht, Harvey and Eckelman each batted in two runs.
- Pierce Herrenbruck (5-3) earned the win on the mound. He struck out four and allowed just one run on five hits in 7.0 innings pitched.
- Michalak fanned four in 2.0 scoreless, hitless innings of relief.
- The Buckeyes host Miami (OH) on Tuesday, May 5 at 6 p.m.
