
Ohio State Sends 31 Athletes to NCAA East First Round

The Buckeyes will compete over four days in Lexington
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team travels to Lexington, Ky., this week for the NCAA East First Round. The meet will take place over four days on the campus of the University of Kentucky and will be streamed on ESPN+. Men's events will take place on Wednesday and Friday, while women's events will occur on Thursday and Saturday.
Wednesday's action begins at 6 p.m. with the men's 110m hurdles and long jump, while Thursday's schedule commences with the women's hammer throw at 10 a.m. The men's 4x100m relay will kick things off on Friday at 5 p.m. and the women's discus competition will mark the start of the final day of action at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

- The Buckeyes claimed two event titles at the Big Ten Championships during their last time in action. Braxton Brann became a Big Ten Champion in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 13.18 (+4.5). He is the first Buckeye to win the event since Joel Brown in 2004.
- Brann, Damon Frabotta, Edidiong Udo and Mason Louis crossed the line in 3:04.65 enroute to securing the second straight Ohio State outdoor title in the men's 4x400m relay.
- The Buckeye men finished fifth overall in Lincoln, Neb., with a total of 62 points. It was their best finish since 2022 when they claimed the Big Ten team title with 124 points. The Ohio State women registered their best performance at the championships since 2023, ending the weekend with 55 points and placing seventh overall.
- Katie Castelli earned one of four Ohio State second-place finishes after improving on her own program record in the women's 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:57.59. Her time is the 21st best in the nation heading into the first round of the NCAA Championships.
- Udo's personal-best 44.91 in the men's 400m at the Big Ten Championships currently ranks seventh in the country in the event.
- Janela Spencer ranks seventh in the women's 100m hurdles with her time of 12.81 (+3.0) recorded at the Tom Jones Memorial.
- Aniya Mosley's program record time of 4:08.54 in the women's 1500m at the Raleigh Relays is currently the 16th best in the nation.
- Kyler Brown (16th) registered a 20.27 (+2.3) in the men's 200m at the conference championships, while Nazzio John (21st) recorded a 20.29 (+3.2).
- Brann is currently ranked 21st in the men's 110m after registering a 13.43 at the Tom Jones Memorial.
- DJ Fillmore's mark of 7.86m/25'9.5" (+2.5) at the Texas Relays is the 22nd best in the country.
- Morgan Hallett earned a personal best in the women's discus final at the Big Ten Championships with a mark of 56.52m/185'5", which earned her a fourth-place finish and puts her 24th in the nation.
- Ohio State has two relay squads ranked inside the TFRRS top 25, with the men's 4x100m (38.72) and 4x400m (3:03.23) squads both ranked 17th.
- John and Laila Campbell were selected as the Buckeyes' Big Ten Sportsmanship Award Honorees at the conclusion of the Big Ten Championships.
