
Ohio State Drops Home Finale Against Wright State

Game Recap
- Wright State took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning after a lead-off solo home run and an RBI bunt single.
- Alex Bemis had the first hit of the day for the Buckeyes, leading off with a single in the bottom of the first, but there was nothing else doing for Ohio State.
- The Raiders extended their lead, 5-0, after an RBI single, an RBI double and a score on a sacrifice fly.
- Mason Eckelman walked to lead off the bottom of the second inning and then Lee Ellis was hit by a pitch to put two runners on. Jacob Parr then reached on a Wright State fielding error to load the bases. An Infield single from Grant Mangrum scored Eckelman and an RBI fielder's choice for CJ Reid sent Ellis home to cut the Buckeye deficit to three, 5-2.
- In the bottom of the third inning, Dane Harvey led off with a solo home run, his 17th long ball of the season, to cut the Wright State lead to two, 5-3.
- In the top of the fifth, a run scored for the Raiders on an Ohio State error to put them back ahead by three, 6-3.
- The Raiders hit a solo home run to lead off the top of the seventh to take a four-run lead, 7-3.
- Harvey was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the seventh and, with one out, Ellis singled to left field. A groundout from Parr advanced both runners into scoring position, but they were left stranded.
- Wright State took a five-run lead, 8-3, in the top of the eighth after another solo home run.
- With two outs in the bottom of the eighth, Henry Kaczmar went year to cut the Raider lead back to four, 8-4.
- The Buckeyes, however, were retired in order in the ninth as they fell to the Raiders, 8-4, to wrap up their 2026 home slate.
- Bemis and Ellis led the Buckeyes with two hits each.
- Sahil Patel (1-1) took the loss. He struck out five and allowed six runs (four earned) on eight hits in 4.0 innings pitched.
- Luke Carrell, Jack Cecil and Lincoln McVicker each struck out two in appearances out of the bullpen.
- The Buckeyes close out the regular season with a three-game series at Michigan Thursday, May 14-Sunday, May 16.
