
Four Buckeyes Record Personal Bests on First Day of VertKlasse Meeting

The Buckeyes had six athletes competing on day one at High Point University.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team competed at the VertKlasse Meeting in High Point, N.C., today.
The Buckeyes kicked off their three-meet weekend by competing at day one of the VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point University. Sophomore Jack Knapke was victorious in the men's elite hammer throw competition after recording a personal best distance of 51.04m/200'3" on his sixth and final attempt of the day. Freshman Brandt Morlock finished right behind Knapke, placing second with a personal best distance of his own (58.12m/190'8"). Morgan Hallet (54.32m/ 178'2") and Lawson Maag (52.40m/171'11") also recorded personal bests in their respective hammer throw competitions.
Ohio State will be in action at three meets Friday, competing at the Ohio Cherry Blossom Invitational, Texas Relays and VertKlasse Meeting.

- Men's Elite Hammer Throw: Knapke won the competition with a PB 51.04m/200'3", while Morlock finished in second with an attempt that measured 58.12m/190'8".
- Women's Elite Hammer Throw: Sophie Bidwell placed fourth with a mark of 57.16m/187'6" and Hallet finished sixth after registering a PB 54.32m/ 178'2".
- Men's Open Hammer Throw: Maag recorded a PB (52.40m/171'11") and placed third.
- Women's Pole Vault: Veronica Waugaman competed in the B section of the pole vault competition, placing fifth and clearing 3.51m/11'6.24".
