Buckeyes looking to build momentum following series win over Iowa
COLUMBUS, Ohio – In the wake of their first Big Ten series win, Ohio State softball (8-12) is looking to continue their winning momentum in a matchup with the Western Michigan Broncos (8-10) at Buckeye Field.

Buckeyes at a Glance
- In a 2-1 series win over Iowa, the Buckeye offense put up 16 runs over a span of three games, taking the series finale in six innings. A .500 weekend at the plate propelled Hailey Lang's batting average to .348, second to only Abbie Wilhelm. Lang, Wilhelm, and Taylor Cruse lead the Ohio State home run effort, with the three producing 21 of the team's 39 homers. The Buckeyes' cumulative .593 slugging percentage ranks third among Big Ten teams.
- Reagan Milliken made her season debut in the Iowa series, hitting .429 on the weekend with three hits and two RBI. Kiki Estrada also enjoyed offensive success, driving in three runs in the series finale against Iowa, tying her season-high set against Delaware. Estrada also had two home runs on the weekend.
- Freshman pitcher Jenna Molk picked up two wins on the weekend, starting in the circle in each game. Her 4.27 ERA, 11 starts, and 39 strikeouts lead the Ohio State pitching stable. Molk also has a team best five complete games this season, going the distance in four of her five wins. In her wins, Molk boasts an ERA of 1.00, with three wins coming via run rule.
Scouting the Broncos
- Western Michigan is 8-10 through the first six weeks of the 2026 season, traveling to Columbus following a 1-4 weekend in the Cathi Maynard Invitational, held in Clarksville and Nashville Tenn.
- The Broncos are led offensively by Bella Duncan and Megan Malartsik. Malartsik holds a team-best batting average of .362, while Duncan leads the roster with 19 RBI and a .683 slugging mark. Western Michigan is batting .276 cumulatively, allowing an opponent batting average of .293.
- Ava Geyer heads the pitching stable, holding team bests in ERA (3.08) and strikeouts (51) while holding opponents to a .257 average. Both Geyer and Hannah Potts have three wins on the year. Tuesday will be the first ever matchup between Western Michigan and Ohio State.
