Ohio State to Kick Off Fall Schedule vs. Youngstown State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State softball returns to Buckeye Field this Friday, with a 10-inning contest against Youngstown State slated for 5 p.m. Parking and admission to the game will be free for all attendees.
The Buckeyes return to action with a host of both new and familiar faces. As head coach Kirin Kumar enters her third season, Ohio State returns Big Ten honorees in Hadley Parisien, Abbie Wilhelm, Sami Bewick, Kiki Estrada and Jenna Molk, as well as NFCA All-Region honoree Taylor Cruse.
The returning group includes five seniors and three graduate students. Graduates include Skylar Limon, Reagan Milliken and Estrada, the three of whom combine for 287 games played with the program. Ohio State welcomed 11 newcomers in the off-season, consisting of six transfers and five freshmen.
In the box, returners account for 111 of Ohio State's 119 total home runs last season, driving in 291 RBI. Ohio State finished the 2026 campaign second in the Big Ten and fourth nationally in home runs.
The Buckeyes return two pitchers in Carter Wachtel and Jenna Molk. Following a stand-out freshman season, Molk earned both conference and all-region honors and was named a 2nd Team Freshman All-American by D1 Softball. Molk's 138 strikeouts ranked eighth most among Big Ten pitchers at the conclusion of the 2026 season.
Youngstown State comes to Columbus following a 31-20 season that earned the Penguins the Horizon League's regular-season championship. The contest comes as the first of eight scheduled games for Ohio State's fall season, including Ohio State's annual Charity Classic, which will run Oct. 2-4.
