Ohio State Falls to Penn State in Saturday's Top 10 Big Ten Battle

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 6 Ohio State men's lacrosse team fell to No. 9 Penn State, 13-6, Saturday evening at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. The Buckeyes are now 8-2 on the year and 1-1 in Big Ten play.

How it Happened
- Penn State jumped out to the lead with four goals in the first eight minutes of the game.
- Kyle Foster put the Buckeyes on the board at 3:41 in the first quarter, scoring from deep in Ohio State's half on the empty Penn State cage.
- The Nittany Lions restored the four-goal lead at 2:40 before Liam White tallied the last goal of the quarter at 2:08 to cut the Penn State advantage down to three at the end of the first.
- Ohio State responded out of the quarter break with a quick goal from Alex Mariner, who assisted White's goal in the opening frame, at 14:12.
- Penn State's second scoring run of the game was three goals to close the first half for the 8-3 lead through two quarters in Columbus.
- The Buckeyes were first to score in the next quarter again, this time with Garrett Haas tallying the team's fourth goal of the game at 13:14 in the third quarter.
- After Penn State scored with eight minutes to play in the third, Jake Cohen made it two pole goals for the Buckeyes with a goal at 7:39. But Penn State answered back with a goal at 7:27 to start another four-goal scoring stretch.
- Only two goals were scored in the fourth quarter. Penn State scored its final goal of the game at 11:41 on the clock and Jack Oldman scored for the Buckeyes 13 seconds later. Both teams made three saves.
- Saturday's game was played in front of a sold-out crowd of 2,618 at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. It was the second sold out game of the season.
- Oldman has now won 10 or more faceoffs in three games this season and has picked up double digit ground balls in two games on the year.
- Cohen and Foster's goals were their first of their careers.
- Marinier led the team with two points against the Nittany Lions and he and Haas tallied their 20th goals of the season.
