
Bemis Goes Yard Twice as Buckeyes Secure Butler Sweep

Game Recap
- Butler got on the board first, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first after a two-run home run.
- The Bulldogs extended their lead to 3-0 in the top of the second off an RBI single to left field.
- Mason Eckelman walked to lead off the bottom of the second inning, followed by a single to right field from Dane Harvey. Maddix Simpson was then hit by a pitch to load the bases. Steven Cavaco then singled to left field, scoring Eckelman to put the Buckeyes on the board. With one out, CJ Reid walked, allowing Dane Harvey to score. With a full count and loaded bases, Alex Bemis hit a grand slam to left center to give Ohio State the lead, 6-3.
- In the top of the third, Butler added a run on a Buckeye error, but Ohio State continued to possess the lead, 6-4.
- A sacrifice fly from Harvey in the bottom of the third scored Eckelman to put the Buckeyes back ahead by three, 7-4.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Henry Kaczmar hit a solo home run to extend the Buckeye lead, 8-4.
- In the bottom of the sixth inning, with Reid on base after a single to left field, Bemis hit another home run to push two more runs across for the Buckeyes. With one out, Noah Furcht hit an infield single, followed by a single from Eckelman. A double from Harvey sent Furcht home and a sacrifice fly from Simpson scored Eckelman to give Ohio State a commanding eight-run lead, 12-4.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Kaczmar walked it off for Ohio State with a two-RBI single to right field, to secure the Buckeyes the 14-4 victory and the series sweep.
- This is the Buckeyes' second series sweep of the season after winning all three games in a series against Saint Louis on opening weekend. This is Ohio State's first sweep at Bill Davis Stadium since 2023, when the Buckeyes won three again rival Michigan to close out the season.
- The Buckeyes run-ruled the Bulldogs in all three games of the series.
- Bemis hit two home runs and recorded six RBIs, which are both career-highs.
