Buckeyes Fall Short Against Louisville and Campbell

Ohio State will rematch with Indiana State to close out the Ohio State Tournament on Sunday
Sami Bewick led the day offensively, going 5-for-8 with two runs scored. Skylar Limon also went 4-for-7 with a run scored. Against Louisville, five different Buckeyes recorded hits, with Taylor Cruse hitting her 10th home run of the year, tying Abbie Wilhelm for most on the roster.
How it Happened: Louisville 6, Ohio State 5
- Louisville took a first inning 1-0 lead via a Madison Pickens sac fly that scored Chelsea Mack.
- Taylor Monroe homered in the top of the fourth to increase the Louisville lead to 4-0.
- Ohio State got a run back in the bottom half of the inning via a Taylor Cruse sac fly that scored Abbie Wilhelm.
- Kailea Ricks worked a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the fifth to score Cruse and cut the Louisville lead to 4-2.
- Louisville plated two more via a throwing error in the top of the seventh, going up 6-2.
- Cruse cut the Louisville lead to one with a three-run bomb in the bottom of the seventh that scored Sami Bewick and Wilhelm. The Buckeyes ultimately fell short with the bases loaded and the winning run on second base.
- Jenna Molk (7-10) got the start and the loss, allowing ten hits and five earned runs. Brooke Gray (6-1) got the start and the win for Louisville, with Alyssa Zabala getting the save.
- Campbell plated two in the top of the first inning with an Allyiah Swiney single that scored Charlie Montgomery and a Kylie Specht bunt that scored Amber DeSena.
- In the top of the second, an Alyssa Armijo bunt single that scored Grace Kealy and a fielder's choice that scored Haley Krebs put Campbell up 4-0.
- The Camels added four runs in the third on a Krebs infield hit that scored Madison Ford, a Montgomery single that scored Hannah Cornetto, a hit by pitch, and a fielder's choice.
- Ohio State got on the board with five runs in the bottom of the third on a bases-loaded Hailey Lang walk that scored Sami Bewick, a fielder's choice that scored Taylor Cruse, a bases-loaded Lottie Landmesser HBP that brought in Kiki Estrada, and a wild pitch and error that scored Skylar Limon and Reese Cullen
- The Camels got back three runs in to lead 11-5 the top of the fourth on a Kealy single that brought in Specht, a fielder's choice, and a Montgomery bunt single that scored Krebs.
- Kennedy Kay (2-4) got the start and the loss, scattering 13 hits and eight earned runs. Katelyn Hubley (9-2) got the start and the win for Campbell.
The Buckeyes will wrap up the Ohio State Tournament Sunday in a 12:30 rematch with the Indiana State Sycamores (15-14). The game will be a Sunday Funday for fans, which will feature free popcorn for youth (while supplies last), inflatables, and other activities for youth.
