Ohio State Returns to the Covelli Center Next Week to Face No. 8 Loyola Chicago, No. 14 Lewis
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 16 Buckeyes (10-9, 5-6) dominated the No. 19 Mastodons (9-7, 4-5) in three sets on Saturday afternoon at Gates Sports Center.

The first set was won by Ohio State with a score of 25-22. The Buckeyes found their groove in the second set with a score of 25-22. Ohio State went on to take set three and win the match, 25-15.

Stanislaw Chacinski led the Buckeyes in kills with 10. Wetzel added seven to achieve a career milestone of 1,200 kills (1,206).

Ohio State hit .509 in the match, with every attacker hitting above .450.
The Buckeyes were led in digs by Wetzel with four. Drew Hudson, Chacinski, and Daniel Hurley each added three digs as well. Â
Wetzel and Eliel Salva-Torres had three service aces apiece.

Set 1 (25-22, OSU)
Brady Jones put Ohio State on the board early with a kill out of the middle, 1-all. Eliel Salva-Torres kept the Buckeyes in the lead with a kill, 7-5. Salva-Torres followed that with a service ace that continued the lead, 8-5. A kill by Shane Wetzel off the block forced a Purdue Fort Wayne timeout, 10-6. Aaron Grimm's first kill of the match gave Ohio State a five-point advantage, 13-8. Daniel Henwood Rodriguez put down a setter dump to push the Buckeyes to a 15-9 score. Daniel Hurley and Salva-Torres had a massive block that kept Ohio State's lead, 17-12. Stanislaw Chacinski had a huge backrow kill for a four-point advantage, 21-17. The Mastodons started to close the scoring gap before a timeout by the Buckeyes, 22-21. After the timeout, another backrow attack by Chacinski extended the lead, 23-21. Another kill by Salva-Torres gave Ohio State their first set point, 24-22. The Buckeyes took the first set after a successful joust by Henwood Rodriguez, 25-22.

Set 2 (25-22, OSU)
Jones started the second set the same as the first with a kill, 1-0. A service ace by Hurley kept Ohio State in the lead, 4-3. The Mastodons tied the set at 7-all. Another backrow kill by Chacinski extended the Buckeyes' lead, 10-8. A kill by Wetzel from the right-side preserved Ohio State's lead, 13-12. Another kill by Wetzel gave the Buckeyes a two-point advantage, 17-15. Purdue Fort Wayne tied the second set at 19-all. Skilled attack placement by Chacinski put Ohio State back in the lead, 21-20. Chacinski and Jones put up a massive block for the 22-20 lead. Salva-Torres added another service ace that continued the scoring advantage for the Buckeyes, 23-20. Ohio State took set two, 25-22.

Set 3 (25-15, OSU)
A great save by Chacinski and kill by Hurley gave the Buckeyes an early lead in the third set, 2-1. A kill by Wetzel kept the one-point advantage, 5-4. Grimm and Chacinski put up a huge block to extend to a two-point lead, 6-4. A service ace by Grimm gave Ohio State the 11-7 lead. Wetzel added a service ace of his own to continue the Buckeyes' scoring advantage, 13-8. Ohio State went on a 5-2 scoring run to force a Mastodon timeout, 16-9. Henwood Rodriguez put down another setter dump for the 18-11 lead. Â He followed that with a service ace that gave the Buckeyes an eight-point advantage, 19-11. A perfect set by Henwood Rodriguez and a huge swing by Grimm kept Ohio State's eight-point lead, 21-13. The Buckeyes won the set 25-15.

Up Next: No. 16 Ohio State will play at 7 p.m. March 19 against No. 8 Loyola University of Chicago. The Buckeyes will compete again at 3 p.m. March 21 against No. 14 Lewis. Both games with be played at the Covelli Center and will be streamed on B1G+.
