
Ellis Goes Yard to Lift Buckeyes Over Huskies in Extra Innings

Game Recap
- The Huskies struck first, taking a 1-0 lead after scoring on a Buckeye error in the bottom of the second inning.
- CJ Reid drew a walk to lead off the top of the third, followed by an infield bunt single from Miles Vandenheuvel to put two runners on. A sacrifice bunt from Lee Ellis advanced both runners. Henry Kaczmar stepped up to the dish next, doubling down the right field line to send both runners home and give the Buckeyes the lead, 2-1.
- In the bottom of the fourth, the Huskies tied the score, 2-2, after a solo home run.
- With two outs in the top of the fifth inning, Kaczmar walked. A double to left field from Noah Furcht sent Kaczmar home and put the Buckeyes back in the lead, 3-2, and an RBI single from Mason Eckelman and an RBI double from Alex Bemis extended the lead, 5-2.
- In the top of the sixth, with two outs, Miles Vandenheuvel tripled to right field. He scored on a Washington error to give the Buckeyes a four-run lead, 6-2.
- A solo home run and a two-run home run from the Huskies in the bottom of the sixth cut the Ohio State lead to one, 6-5.
- In the top of the seventh, Bemis was walked. A double to deep center field from Dane Harvey sent Bemis home and put Ohio State ahead by two, 7-5.
- In the bottom of the seventh, a solo home run and a score on a Buckeye error for the Huskies tied the score, 7-7.
- Reid led off with a single through the right side in the eighth inning, and advanced to second on a wild pitch. With one out, Ellis singled through the right side, advancing Reid to third to put runners on the corners. A sacrifice bunt from Kaczmar sent Reid home and a single from Furcht scored Ellis to put the Buckeyes back ahead, 9-7.
- In the bottom of the eighth, the Huskies scored on back-to-back Ohio State errors to tie the score once again, 9-9.
- In the bottom of the ninth with two runners on the Huskies, Jake Michalak fanned two and an impressive play by Ellis to Reid at first ended the inning, sending the game into a 10th inning.
- In the top of the 10th with two outs on the board, Ellis came up big for the Buckeyes, sending one out of the park in left field to put the Buckeyes back on top, 10-9.
- In the bottom of the 10th inning, one runner reached for the Huskies with two outs, but a pitcher to first base groundout ended the inning and secured the 10-9 victory for the Buckeyes.
- The Buckeyes totaled 13 hits. Ellis, Kaczmar, Furcht, Harvey and Vandenheuvel each had two hits.
- Kaczmar had a team-high three RBIs.
- Gavin Kuzniewski fanned four and gave up five runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings pitched.
- Michalak (2-0) earned the win on the mound. He struck out three and allowed two runs on four hits in 3.0 innings pitched.
