
Buckeyes Head to West Lafayette for Big Ten Series with Purdue

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State softball (8-13) will take on Purdue (18-6) in its second Big Ten series of the season, with games slotted for Friday through Sunday. The trip will be a homecoming for Indiana natives Hadley Parisien and Izzy Neal.

The Ohio State offense touts a cumulative .595 slugging percentage, good for third best in the Big Ten. Four Buckeyes who have played 75% of this season's games or more hold batting averages above .300, including Abbie Wilhelm, Hailey Lang, Taylor Cruse and Skylar Limon. Wilhelm has only seen two games without getting on base. She has a hit in all but four games for a roster-leading 25 and a .938 slugging mark not only leads the team but is sixth best among conference hitters. Cruse has also made it on base in all but four games this season, with 22 hits that trail only Wilhelm.
Despite only appearing in eight games, Hadley Parisien has a hit in every game she has played in this season. Parisien is swinging .423 with six RBI in the last three games. Jenna Molk continues to lead nearly every Ohio State pitching category, tossing five complete games while holding five of the team's eight wins. Molk also has 42 strikeouts on the season, starting in 11 of her 14 appearances.

Purdue's .331 team batting average is fourth best among Big Ten teams, holding opponents to a mark of .257. Junior Moriah Polar leads the Big Ten in both batting average (.579) and hits (44). Five every-day Boilermakers have batting averages above .300, with Polar, Khloe Banks, and Ashlynn Campbell all hitting above .400. Ohio-native Julia Gossett leads the Purdue pitching stable with an ERA of 1.98, eight wins, and 78 strikeouts. Gossett's ERA is tied for ninth best in the conference, with her win and strikeout totals both fourth most among conference pitchers. The Buckeyes and Boilermakers last matched up in the 2025 Big Ten tournament, where Ohio State fell 6-14 after sweeping Purdue in the regular season.
