COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the third season in a row, the Ohio State women's golf team will compete in the prestigious Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, hosted at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C., March 2–4. The event will air on the Golf Channel on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day.Â
- The Buckeyes lineup will include Sophie Eppelstun, Kary Hollenbaugh, Nellie Ong, Mandy Song, and Matilde Santilli. Marina Joyce-Moreno will be competing as an individual. Â
- At last year's Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, Kary Hollenbaugh and Nellie Ong each recorded top-20 finishes for the Buckeyes. Hollenbaugh shot a one-under 70 in the final round, improving by six strokes from round two and moving up 17 spots on the leaderboard. She finished tied for 13th with a 54-hole total of 218 (+5). Ong tied for 17th place with a three-round score of 219 (+6), including a 75 (+4) in the final round. Â
- Last season, the Buckeyes finished in 10th place out of 17 teams with a 54-hole score of 885 (+3). The Buckeyes shot 291 (+7) in the final round; it was the team's best round of the tournament. The Buckeyes had the seventh-most pars with 170. The team had 26 birdies.
- The Buckeyes last competed in the Spartan Suncoast Invitational, where they carded a 1-under 287 to move up two spots and finish third in a 15-team field that included nine Top 50 ranked teams. Â
- At the Sun Coast Invitational, freshman Eppelstun recorded the best finish of her career, posting rounds of 70-77-70 to place third at 1-over par. The result marked her second top-five finish in five events this season, as she also placed fifth at the Inverness Collegiate in the fall. Hollenbaugh also finished inside the top 15, tying for 12th after closing with a final-round 70. It was her third consecutive top-15 finish at the Sun Coast Invitational. Â
- The Buckeyes are once again participating in the Folds of Honor program, each year carrying a bag bearing the name of a fallen service member or first responder. This season, the Buckeye women and men will both honor Technical Sergeant Anthony Campbell. TSgt. Campbell served with the Air Force's 932nd Civil Engineer Squadron as an explosive ordnance disposal technician. He deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in late 2009, and was forward deployed to Afghanistan. During his deployment, he assisted in recovering over 280 pieces of ordnance and bulk explosive charges, disposing of over one ton of explosives used in IEDs. In December 2009, Campbell lost his life on an overnight mission with his team where he identified an IED. He selflessly moved his team out of danger, placing himself between them and the IED before it detonated. Founded in 2007, the mission of Folds of Honor is to provide educational scholarships to the spouses and children of America's fallen or disabled service members and first responders. Since its inception, over 44,000 scholarships have been awarded.  Â
