
Song and Eppelstun Pace Buckeyes on Day 1 of NCAA Championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio – On a beautiful first day of the 2026 NCAA Women's Golf Championship, Ohio State posted a round of 297 and are in 24th place after day one. The 54-hole event is being played at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, Calif.
Ohio State's scorecard was led by sophomore Mandy Song and freshman Sophie Eppelstun, who both finished the day at 73 (+1). Song made a pair of birdies in the middle of her round to offset three bogeys. Eppelstun opened her round with a birdie at the first hole and then hit her approach to less than a foot on the par-5 18th to close with another birdie.
Sophomore Nellie Ong followed with a 75 (+3), while sophomore Marina Joyce Moreno carded a 76 (+4) to round out the team scoring. Freshman Matilde Santilli shot an 81 (+9).
The field will be cut to the Top 15 teams following Sunday's third round and then the Top 8 teams after Monday's round will advance to match play.
The Buckeyes will once again be paired with Baylor and Eastern Michigan in the second round and the teams will start at 3:12 p.m. ET off the 10th tee on Saturday.
