
Nellie Ong Shoots Even Par to Lead Buckeyes to 295 on Day 2 of NCAAs

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore Nellie Ong made a long birdie putt on the final hole to card a second round even-par 72 to lead the Buckeyes on the second day of the NCAA Championship at the Omni La Costa Resort on Saturday.
As a team, the Buckeyes carded a 295 and are in 25th place through two rounds. The field will be cut to the Top 15 after the Sunday’s third round and the Buckeyes are just six shots out of 15th.
Ong parred her first 11 holes on Saturday before making a couple of bogeys. She then birded the par-5 sixth and holed the long putt on No. 9 to finish with a 72. She is 3-over par for the tournament.
Sophomore Mandy Song and freshman Sophie Eppelstun have matched each other through the first two rounds with a pair of 73s. Song played her final 13 holes at 1-under par. The duo is tied for 46th at 2-over par.
Marina Joyce-Moreno carded a 77 on Saturday while senior Kary Hollenbaugh subbed in and shot an 84.
The Buckeyes will be paired with Ole Miss and Michigan State on Sunday and will start their round at 4:07 p.m. ET
