COLUMBUS, Ohio – Following wins over Northern Kentucky and Central State last week, No. 11 Ohio State (6-3, 1-0) heads to Charlotte (N.C.) to battle the Queens Royals (5-4, 0-2) in two Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) games this weekend.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Following wins over Northern Kentucky and Central State last week, No. 11 Ohio State (6-3, 1-0) heads to Charlotte (N.C.) to battle the Queens Royals (5-4, 0-2) in two Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) games this weekend.
- The No. 11 Buckeyes look to continue their MIVA conference win streak in Charlotte this weekend at the Levine Center after opening the season at NKU last week.
- The next Buckeye home game will be against No. 9 Ball State (10-1) for Dad Night at the Covelli Center Feb. 19.
- Ohio State moved up to No. 11 in the AVCA poll after sweeping NKU and Central State this past weekend…both 3-0 victories.
- The Buckeyes are 6-0 against the Royals all-time and have not lost a set in the series.
- Ian Nolte, Brady Jones and Tyler Tharpe all had their first career starts vs Central State last Sunday. Nolte put up six kills and a 0.667 attack percentage. Jones added a career high of eight kills and five blocks. Tharpe had six kills and three blocks.
- Drew Hudson put up 12 digs in the two matchups to total 70 digs so far this season.
- Following a team vote, Shane Wetzel and Hudson were named captains for the 2026 season. Hudson is the first sophomore to earn captain honors in the history of the program.
- Wetzel currently ranks 13th in Ohio State history with 1,125 kills for his career. He and sophomore Stan Chacinski were named to the 2026 preseason All-MIVA squad.
- Wetzel and Chacinski both were recognized as 2025 AVCA Honorable Mention All-Americans after earning 2025 postseason Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association honors. In addition, the MIVA coaches voted Ohio State in the No. 2 position in the league 2026 preseason poll.
- In his seventh season, Kevin Burch achieved his 100th win as Ohio State's head coach (102-65) with the victory against Lincoln Memorial (3-0). Securing the win against the Railsplitters gave Burch win No. 100 to go with one regular-season MIVA title, a pair of league tournament championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances.
