- Did not see action in redshirt season
- Son of Mario Tharpe and Tonya White
- Lettered three times at Whitney Young Magnet High School as opposite hitter
- Earned All City, also won City and Regional championship as a junior and senior, while winning the sectional as a senior
- Played club volleyball for Ultimate Volleyball Club, named to the Fab 50 List and was a Junior Volleyball Association All-American
- Hopes to play professionally overseas and earn a PHD in Psychology of Adolescence
- Enjoys traveling, studying foreign languages and pottery
- Greatest thrill in sports so far is serving for match point in back-to-back city championships
- Volunteers with the homeless over the holidays and co-founded a Chicago summer camp
