
Buckeyes Wrap Up First Day of Indiana Invitational

The Buckeyes had nine athletes finish in the top five of various events on the first day of the meet.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track & field team competed at the Indiana Invitational, hosted by the University of Indiana in Bloomington, Ind. on Friday.
The first day of competition at the Indiana Invitational featured nine top five performances by Buckeye athletes. This included a set of three top three finishes in field events from Aaliyah Elliot (women's long jump, second), Sophie Bidwell (women's weight throw, third) and Daniel Edwards (men's pole vault, tied for second). Ohio State also advanced Katie Ruffener and Noa Smith to the women's 60m hurdle finals, while Marcus Brown, Dominic Calhoun and Tobiloba Oniyide advanced to the men's 60m finals.
Day two of the competition will begin with field events at 10:00 a.m., starting with women's triple jump, while track events will commence at noon with the women's one mile race.
Track Top Performers
Friday, January 16
- Women's 60m Hurdles: Ruffener (8.70) and Smith (8.71) both competed in the finals of the event, where Ruffener recorded a season best and Smith set a PR.
- Men's 60m: Brown (6.76), Calhoun (6.77) and Oniyide (6.91) all competed in the event finals after qualifying in the prelims.
- Women's 200m: Callia Harris claimed a fourth-place finish with a time of 24.43.
- Men's 600m: Jackson Eckert recorded a time of 1:21.01 and finished sixth, while freshman Lucas Tornstrom ran a 1:21.22 and placed seventh in his first collegiate meet.
- Women's 600m: Avery Clark secured a third-place finish and a new PR with a time of 1:31.62, while Naomi Clarke finished fourth and claimed a PR of her own with a 1:31.94.

Friday, January 16
- Women's Weight Throw: Bidwell recorded a season best 18.57m/60'11.25" on her second throw to earn a third-place finish.
- Women's Long Jump: Elliot placed second after registering a 5.85m/19'02.50" jump and Sydnee Burr placed fifth after recording a 5.52m/18'01.50"
- Men's Pole Vault: Edwards finished tied for second with a best mark of 4.85m/15'11.00".
- Men's Long Jump: Brian Kellon recorded a 7.04m/23'1.25" on his third jump and finished fifth.
