Ohio State Close Opening Weekend of Indoor Season at Day Two of Rod McCravy

The Buckeyes competed in Louisville, Ky. to open their indoor season this weekend.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track & field team competed at the Rod McCravy Memorial, hosted by the University of Kentucky in Louisville, Ky. this weekend.
The Buckeyes wrapped up their first indoor meet of the season with several top five and top 10 finishes. Among the best performers of Saturday was Tianna Spinks who placed third in the women's 300m (37.52) in her first collegiate meet. Spinks was also a part of the relay team that competed in the women's 4x400m, along with Michaela McCall, Tatum Lynn and Laila Campbell, that recorded a 3:36.81 and placed third. On the men's side Nick Biega secured a fourth-place finish in the 300m with a 33.51.
Day one of the competition was highlighted by a pair of program record-setting performances from Kyler Brown and Aniya Mosley. Brown, a freshman competing at his first colligate meet, recorded a 6.60 in the men's 60m prelims, surpassing the previous record of 6.61 set by Nick Gray in 2019. Mosley placed first in the women's 1000m and posted a 2:42.87, passing Katie Borchers' mark of 2:45.05 recorded in 2015.
DJ Fillmore won the men's long jump on Friday with a best mark of 7.65m/25'1.25"and the men's distance medley relay team made up of Colin Cernansky, Noah Carmichael, Cooper Citro and Will McGraw also recorded the best time in the event with a 9:55.56.
Track Top Performers
Saturday, January 10
- Women's 60m: Bobbi Olive (7.49) and Sydney Bryant (7.53) both competed in the women's 60m finals, placing third and sixth respectively.
- Women's 300m: Spinks placed third in her first solo event as a Buckeye with a 37.52.
- Men's 300m: Biega (33.51) led the way for the Buckeye men placing fourth, while Noah Carmichael (33.82) placed seventh and Damon Frabotta (34.01) finished eighth.
- Men's 800m: The Buckeyes had three top 10 finishers with Jaxson Eckert (third) recording a 1:51.76, Citro recording a 1:53.40 and Cernansky registered a 1:54.35.
- Women's 800m: Sydney Stevenson finished eighth with a time of 2:15.12
- Men's One Mile: Will McGraw recorded a 4:12.93 and placed sixth.
- Men's 4x400m: A team made up of Mason Louis, Nazzio John, Damon Frabotta and Carmichael placed third with a 3:10.05.
- Women's 4x400m: Michaela McCall, Tatum Lynn, Laila Campbell and Spinks finished with a 3:36.81 and placed second.
Friday, January 9
- Men's 60m: Kyler Brown (6.60), Nazzio John (6.62) and Nick Biega (6.76) all recorded PRs.
- Women's 60m: Bobbi Olive (7.34) and Sydney Bryant (7.46) both registered PRs and placed in the top 10.
- Women's 200m: Michaela McCall claimed a top 10 finish with a time of 24.37.
- Men's 600m: Mason Louis placed second and recorded a PR (1:17.87).
- Women's 600m: Naomi Clarke secured a ninth-place finish and a new PR (1:34.23).
- Women's 1000m: Mosley won the event with a PR and a program record time (2:42.87).
- Men's Distance Medley Relay: Cernansky, Carmichael, Citro and McGraw took home a victory after posting a time of 9:55.56.
Field Top Performers
Saturday, January 10
- Women's Triple Jump: Morgan Bridges recorded a 12.48m/40'11.5" on her first throw to claim fourth place.
- Men's Pole Vault: Daniel Edwards secured a seventh-place finish with a 5.00m/16'4.75".
- Women's Shot Put: Kamille Smith registered a 14.84m/48'08.25 in her first collegiate meet, placing sixth.
Friday, January 9
- Men's Long Jump: DJ Fillmore recorded a best mark of 7.65m/25'1.25 on his third attempt to win the event.
- Men's High jump: Sopuluchi Anosike and Sean Kaminski finished sixth and seventh, respectively, both recording a 2.05m/6'08.75".
