No. 21 Buckeyes Ready to Take on No. 10 Wolverines Thursday

Ohio State enters the game 8-1 on the year
The Basics
- The No. 21 Ohio State women's lacrosse team hosts No. 10 Michigan in a Big Ten game at 6 p.m. Thursday.Â
- The teams will face off in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. Admission and parking are free.
- BTN will televise the matchup and live stats will be available through OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
- The game is a Scarlet Out, with fans encouraged to wear red.Â
- The Buckeyes are 8-1 on the year, coming off their first loss of the season, a 9-8 defeat against USC Sunday in Columbus. Michigan is 6-3 and downed USC 11-9 last Thursday in its last game. Both the Buckeyes and Wolverines are 1-1 in the B1G.
- Thursday is the 13th meeting between Ohio State and Michigan since the Wolverines joined Division I.Â
- The teams spent the 2014 season competing in the American Lacrosse Conference before the B1G started sponsoring women's lacrosse in 2015.Â
- Ohio State leads the all-time series, 7-5, with a 2-3 ledger in games played in Columbus.Â
- Last season, Michigan posted an 11-5 win in Ann Arbor in the B1G opener for both teams.Â
- The Wolverines are sixth in the NCAA in scoring defense, allowing 8.67 goals a game, and are averaging 13.44 goals an outing.
- Michigan goalie Erin O'Grady has an 8.70 goals-against average to rank seventh nationally and is fourth with a .548 save percentage. Emma Burke is in the Top 20 in draw controls per game (7.63).
- Ohio State had its eight-game winning streak end last Sunday in Columbus, as it fell to visiting USC, 9-8.Â
- The Trojans scored first and then never trailed in the contest, building their largest lead of four goals in the second quarter and then never letting the Buckeyes get on a run. The closest Ohio State got in the second half was within one two times, the last with 2:23 left to play, 9-8.
- Statistically, USC led in shots, 37-20, and held a 16-5 advantage in draw controls. Kampbell Stone led the way for Ohio State with two goals and an assist and Leah Sax had a goal and two assists. Goalie Jocelyn Torres made a career-high 15 saves for the Buckeyes. Â Â
- In the national rankings this week, Ohio State is No. 21 in the IWLCA coaches poll and No. 18 in the IL Women media poll.
- The Buckeyes' loss to USC in their last time out was their first defeat this season.
- Ohio State's 8-0 start was the best in program history. It passed the 2002 team, which won the first six games that season. Prior to this season, the most recent win streak to open the year was in 2012 when the Buckeyes won five in a row.Â
- The Buckeyes' eight-game winning streak was the longest for the program since the 2016 team won a program-record nine in a row.
- The Buckeyes rank first nationally in clearing percentage (.954) and are 24th in caused turnovers per game (9.78).
- The Buckeyes are third nationally in scoring defense, allowing 6.67 goals per game. Katie Kaucheck, Ella Wright, Lilli Sherman and Audrey Schoemer have all started the first nine games on defense.
- Sherman is first on the team with 15 caused turnovers, followed by Kaucheck with 12. Â
- Schoemer and Sherman are tied with goalie Jocelyn Torres for first with 15 ground balls each and Kampbell Stone and Emily Magalotti each have 14.Â
- Brynn Ammerman leads the Buckeyes with 29 assists and 39 points. She is on a 12-game point streak (13g, 33a, 46p). Ammerman has two or more assists in all but one game this year and is 11th in the NCAA in assists, ranking seventh nationally and first in the B1G in assists per game (3.22).Â
- Ammerman's seven-assist game vs. Akron Feb. 26 is tied for the eighth-most in a single game this season in the NCAA and tied for fourth in program history. She also had a hat trick vs. the Zips for a 10-point day, tied for the fourth-most in the NCAA this year and tying for fourth in school history.
- Ammerman has 96 points in her Buckeye career, with 35 goals and 61 assists in 40 games.
- Zoe Coleman has at least one goal in 13 of the last 14 games and had a career-high five goals and seven points at San Diego State March 15. She has notched 47 goals in her 43-game career, adding 21 assists for 68 points. Coleman is third on the squad with a career-high tying 18 goals this year.
- Coleman's 18 goals have come on 27 shots and she is third in the NCAA in shooting percentage (.667).
- Stone notched a career-high four goals at both Oregon and San Diego State. She has at least one goal in each game on the year and 21 total to rank second on the team. She has nine multiple goal outings at OSU, with 35 goals and 36 points in 26 games.
- Stone is 6-for-9 on free position chances this year and is 17th in the NCAA in free position percentage (.667).Â
- Kate Tyack had a seven-game goal-scoring streak end vs. USC. She notched a career-high five goals and six points in the win at Oregon March 12. On the year, Tyack has a team-best 22 goals. She has 13 games with two or more goals through her first 26 collegiate games and has 57 points, with 46 goals and 11 assists, as a Buckeye.Â
- Leah Sax has at least one point in eight of nine games this season, including 10 points (6g, 4a) in her last three games combined. She is third on the team with 24 points, ranking fourth in goals (14) and second in assists with a career-high 10. After just three appearances and one goal through her first three years at Ohio State, Sax has 44 goals, 17 assists and 61 points in the 26 games since the start of 2024.
- Annie Hargraves has seven goals in her last three games combined, with a hat trick at Oregon and two goals at San Diego State and vs. USC. She has 12 goals on the year and 49 in her career, adding an assist for 50 points in 43 career games.
- Freshman Maddy Paz has six goals on the year, including scores at Oregon and vs. San Diego State.Â
- Freshman Abby Boyle had a career-high seven draw controls at San Diego State, passing the six she had in the win over Cincinnati. She leads the team with 30, followed by Magalotti with 22.
- Ohio State will head to New Jersey to take on Rutgers at 1 p.m. Sunday.
- The Buckeyes will then play at Penn State April 6 before returning home to take on Johns Hopkins April 10.
