
Buckeyes Defeated by Iowa in Series Finale

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Ohio State baseball team (6-15, 0-6 Big Ten) was defeated by Iowa (14-8, 7-2 Big Ten), 18-2, in seven innings in the teams' series finale on Sunday.
Game Recap
- The Hawkeyes got on the board first with an RBI double and a two-RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to give them a 3-0 lead over the Buckeyes.
- Mason Eckelman was walked to lead off the second inning. Ryan Miller stepped up to the dish next and he went yard, sending the ball 472 feet out of the park to drive in two runs and cut the Hawkeye lead to one. 3-2.
- Iowa got seven across on two RBI singles, a two-RBI single and a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to get ahead of the Buckeyes by eight, 10-2.
- A two-run home run, a bases-loaded walk and a two-RBI double for the Hawkeyes in the bottom of the fourth extended their lead, 15-2.
- The Hawkeyes got one across in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single to take a 16-2 lead over Ohio State.
- In the top of the sixth, Lee Ellis led off the inning with a walk. A single from Tyler Pettorini put two runners on and both advanced on a wild pitch. With two outs, Miller was walked to load the bases for the Buckeyes, but all three were stranded.
- An RBI double and an RBI single for the Hawkeyes in the bottom of the sixth inning gave them a 16-run lead over the Buckeyes, 18-2.
- In the top of the seventh with one out, Nick Giamarusti reached base on an Iowa error and he stole second. A groundout from Trey Lipsey advanced Giamarusti to third, but the next Buckeye was retired as Iowa came away with the series sweep.

- Miller and Pettorini each had one hit for the Buckeyes.
- Jake Michalak (1-3) took the loss on the mound. He struck out four and gave up nine runs on six hits in 2.1 innings pitched.
- Hunter Shaw struck out three in 2.0 innings of relief. He allowed six runs on six hits.
