Buckeyes Fall to No. 9 Oregon State, 12-10

Game Recap
- Trey Lipsey led off the game with an infield single and advanced to second base on an Oregon State error. A sac bunt from Lee Ellis advanced Lipsey to third base, but he was stranded.
- An RBI double, a two-RBI single and an RBI single for the Beavers in the bottom of the first inning gave them a 4-0 lead over the Buckeyes.
- In the top of the second, Mason Eckelman hit his first career home run, sending one over the wall in right field to put the Buckeyes on the board. With one out on the board, Nick Giamarusti walked and then he swiped second. Giamarusti scored on an Oregon State error to cut the Beaver lead in half, 4-2.
- In the bottom of the second, Oregon State got one across on a wild pitch to take a three-run lead, 5-2.
- The Beavers scored again in the bottom of the third on an RBI double and an RBI groundout to get ahead by five, 7-2.
- Giamarusti walked to lead off the fourth inning. A single from Zach Freeman moved Giamarusti to third and put runners on the corners for the Buckeyes, but they were left on base.
- Ellis led off with a solo home run in the fifth inning to cut the Oregon State lead back to four, 7-3.
- Marc Stephens hit an infield single to lead off the top of the sixth inning, followed by a single from Giamarusti. With one out on the board, Reggie Bussey hit a bunt single to load the bases. With two outs, Ellis was walked and Tyler Pettorini was hit by a pitch to send two runs across and put the Buckeyes within two runs of the lead, 7-5. Matthew Graveline stepped up to the plate next and he doubled to right field, clearing the bases to put the Buckeyes in the lead, 8-7.
- In the top of the seventh, Stephens led off with a double down the left field line. With two outs, Bussey was walked and Lipsey was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Ellis then drew a walk to send in a run and put Ohio State ahead by two, 9-7.
- Luke Carrell came out of the bullpen in the bottom of the seventh and struck out all three batters swinging to keep the Buckeyes in the lead, 9-7.
- In the bottom of the eighth, the Beavers got two across on back-to-back RBI singles to tie the score, 9-9. They then hit a three-run home run to reclaim the lead, 12-9.
- In the top of the ninth, Bussey reached base after being hit by a pitch. He would score on an Oregon State error to bring the Buckeyes within two runs of the lead, 12-10, but they were not able to regain the lead as the Beavers came away with the 12-10 win.
- Graveline led the Buckeyes in hits with three and Stephens added two hits. Two of Graveline's hits were doubles.
- Ellis and Graveline had a team-best three RBIs each.
- Ryan Butler and Nik Copenhaver each struck out two in 2.0 innings out of the bullpen.
- Luke Carrell (0-1) took the loss. He struck out three and gave up five runs on four hits in 1.1 innings pitched.
- The Buckeyes welcome St. John's to Bill Davis Stadium for their home opener on Tuesday, March 4 at 3:00 p.m. It is the earliest home opener since 1992. Ohio State hosts Valparaiso for a three-game series Friday, March 7-Sunday, March 9 and welcomes Eastern Michigan for a midweek matchup on Tuesday, March 11 at 3:00 p.m.
