Ohio State Adds Three Meets This Weekend Prior to Big Tens

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track & field program will divide 11 athletes between the Arkansas Qualifier, the Flag City Open and the AU Last Chance Meet on Friday, Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 22.

On Friday, Leah Bertrand will perform in the women's 60m dash while Olivia Powell and Janela Spencer will each compete in the women's 60m hurdles at the Arkansas Qualifier. The women's 60m hurdles preliminaries will start at 2:15 p.m. ET. with the finals scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET. The women's 60m dash preliminaries will begin at 2:50 p.m. ET. with the finals occurring at 4:35 p.m. ET.

The Flag City Open, also on Friday, will feature all seven pole vaulters including Daniel Edwards, Morgan Fijalkowski, Bailey Fletcher, Sophie Fong, Nicole Grimes, Samantha Potts and Veronica Waugaman.

On Saturday, Lacey Stringer will be throwing in the women's shot put at the AU Last Chance Meet. Her event will follow the men's shot put that is set to take place at 11:00 a.m.

- Bertrand owns the top seven fastest 60m dash times this season for Ohio State women with her season best being 7.21 seconds. Her three first place finishes all happened at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic including the 60m preliminaries, 60m finals and the 200m.
- Women's 60m Hurdles:
- Powell has six of the 10 fastest Ohio State women's 60m hurdles times with her top two being third (8.19 seconds) and fourth (8.29 seconds). She won the 60m hurdles at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic.
- Spencer has four of the top 10 women's 60m hurdles times. This past weekend at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational, she claimed the top two spots on the list by setting a new personal record during the 60m hurdles preliminaries of 8.15 seconds, then setting another new one of 8.13 seconds in the semifinals.
- Pole Vault:
- Edwards has the top three pole vault performances this season for Buckeye men with his best (5.16m/16-11.00) earning second place at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic.
- Fijalkowski's best performance came at the Clemson Tiger Paw where she tied for seventh with a height of 4.14m/13-07.00. She has the best two height clearances for Ohio State women this season and has four spots in the top 10.
- Fletcher has the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth best Ohio State male performances this season with his best clearance being 4.57m/15-00.00 at the Rod McCravy Memorial.
- Fong's season best of 4.06m/12-03.75 is the third best female performance for the Buckeyes this season. She also has four additional performances within the top 10 on that list.
- Grimes collected her first career win at the AU Jud Logan Light Giver Open, where she cleared a height of 3.90m/12-05.50.
- Potts' season best occurred at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic, where she cleared 3.41m/11-02.25.
- Waugaman set a new personal record of 3.56m/11-08.00 at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic, where she placed ninth overall.
- Stringer has the first (18.96m/62-02.50) and third (18.61m/61-00.75) best Ohio State women's weight throw distances this season. She also has the top five farthest shot put distances with her best registering at 17.36m/56-11.25 at the Crossroads of America. Stringer has thrown for personal bests in both the shot put and weight throw this season.
