COLUMBUS, Ohio -- No. 11 Ohio State (0-2) plays host to Fort Valley State University (0-0) in the first meetings between the schools this weekend in Columbus. First serve in the series opener is at 5 p.m. Friday with the finale set for 3 p.m. Saturday. Both matches will be streamed live on B1G+. Â
- Following the season-opening series against BYU, graduate middle blocker Thomas Leahey was named the MIVA Defensive Player of the Week. He led the Buckeyes with 13 blocks in the two matches. He was credited with eight blocks in the second contest.Â
- Start times for the home series against Fort Valley State this weekend have changed. The match Friday will start at 5 p.m. and the Saturday match will begin at 3 p.m.
- The schedule at the 2025 First Point Collegiate Challenge Jan. 17-18 in Austin, Texas, also has been adjusted. The Buckeyes will face Stanford Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. and then UCLA Jan. 18 at 8 p.m.Â
- The matches against Fort Valley State will be the first in the series between the schools.Â
- Ohio State will serve as the host institution for the 2025 NCAA Championships May 8-12 at the Covelli Center in Columbus. Â
- Ohio State has served as the host for the NCAA Championships on six previous occasions (1978-83-97-2007-17-21). The Buckeyes won the NCAA title at St. John Arena in 2017. Â
- Senior Cole Young along with junior Shane Wetzel were both named to the 2025 Preseason All-MIVA team following a vote by league coaches. Young was a 2024 First Team All-MIVA selection while Wetzel earned a spot on the second team.
- Young is moving up the career total and assist blocks lists in the Ohio State record book. He is currently 18th in assist blocks with 248 and 20th in total blocks with 267.

- Five former Buckeyes, including legendary head coach Pete Hanson and All-American Angel Aja, were part of the fifth MIVA Hall of Fame Class. There were five total Buckeyes inducted during ceremonies last November in Columbus.Â
- Christy Blough (2014-17) became the latest men's volleyball athlete to be named to the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame. Â He and 13 others were officially inducted Oct. 4, 2024.
