Buckeyes complete series with Wildcats at 3 p.m. Saturday at Covelli
The Buckeyes won by scores of 26-24, 25-22, 25-22.
Freshman Stanislaw Chacinski led the Buckeyes with 14 kills while hitting .565.
Redshirt freshman Will McElveen, making his first start at setter, led both teams with 37 assists.
Defensively, Shane Wetzel and Grant Strong led the Buckeyes, each with seven digs. Wetzel contributed 12 kills. He hit .667 for the match.

How it Happened
Set 1 (26-24)
Ohio State's block put the Buckeyes up 2-0 with Cole Young in on both opening points. Daniel Hurley registered the first kill of the night for a 3-2 Ohio State lead. FVS scored the next two to take a 4-3 advantage. The Buckeyes were the first to go up by more than a point at 11-9 after scoring the first two points of the match. The Wildcats came back to tie it at 12-all with a 3-0 run. FVS used another 3-0 run to take a 16-15 edge before a service error ended the run and tied the set at 16-all. The Wildcats used a 4-1 run to take a 20-17 lead before an Ohio State timeout. The Buckeyes cut the lead to 21-20 Wildcats after the break with a 3-1 run. FVS called timeout but Ohio State tied it at 22-all on a kill by Young. The teams traded points to send the match to overtime at 24-all. FVS called its last timeout before a Will McElveen ace and Shane Wetzel kill earned the 26-24 win for the Buckeyes.

Set 2 (25-22)
Ohio State used a 7-1 run early in the set for an 8-3 lead. Stanislaw Chacinski added consecutive kills to put the Buckeyes up 10-5. A Thomas Leahey kill kept the Buckeyes up 13-8. The Wildcats scored the next two points before a Wetzel kill made it 14-10. The Wildcats cut into the lead with a 3-1 run to make it 15-13 Buckeyes. FVS stayed within two points before a 3-0 run tied the match at 17-all. The Wildcats took a 19-18 lead with a 5-2 run before a Hurley kill tied it a 19-all. Ohio State called timeout after a FVS kill and ace put the Wildcats up 21-19. Kills by Chacinski and Hurley tied the set at 21-all. The Wildcats called timeout before Ohio State took a 23-21 lead on a Wildcats error and Hurley kill. After an Ohio State service error, a Young kill led to set point at 24-22. The Buckeyes then took the set 25-22 after an overpass set up Chacinski for the kill and the win.

Set 3 (25-22)
The Buckeyes used a 3-1 run to build a 7-4 lead. The Wildcats scored the next two to make it 7-6. Chacinski made it 9-6 Buckeyes with a pair of kills. A 5-1 FVS run put the Wildcats up 11-10. The Buckeyes reclaimed the lead on a couple Wetzel kills and a Chacinski finish for a 15-12 lead. The Wildcats called timeout following a pair of FVS errors made it 18-14 Ohio State. The Wildcats scored the next two after the break before a Wetzel kill made it 19-16 Buckeyes. A Kyle Teune kill made it 20-17 Ohio State. Another Teune kill made it 22-19. Teune then added an ace to set up match point at 24-19. The Wildcats scored the next three before a Wetzel kill earned a 3-1 win for the Buckeyes with a 25-22 win in the final set.
