
Buckeyes Dominate Nebraska, 15-2, in First Round of B1G Tournament

Game Recap
- The Buckeyes struck first and never looked back. With one out in the top of the second inning, Joseph Mershon went yard, giving Ohio State a 1-0 lead. Mitchell Okuley followed that with a single to center field. Josh Stevenson stepped up to the dish with two outs on the board and he sent a double into right center to send Okuley home and put the Buckeyes up, 2-0.
- In the top of the third inning, with two outs on the board, Matthew Graveline doubled to right field. Tyler Pettorini then singled through the left side to score Graveline and extend the Ohio State, 3-0.
- The Buckeyes had a monster fourth inning, taking a commanding 11-0 lead over Nebraska. With one out on the board, Hunter Rosson singled to left field. Stevenson then walked to put two runners on. Nick Giamarusti was up next, and he turned on the jets to leg out a triple and score both runners. Trey Lipsey then singled to send Giamarusti home. Henry Kaczmar sent a double into right field to moved Lipsey to third and put both runners in scoring position. Graveline walked to load the bases. A groundout from Pettorini plated Lipsey. Mershon came up big once again, doubling down the right field line to drive in two runs. A double from Okuley sent Mershon home and a single from Rosson scored Okuley for the Buckeyes' eighth and final run of the inning.
- A solo home run from Huskers put them on the board in the bottom of the fourth, but Ohio State had a 10-run lead, 11-1.
- Giamarusti was hit by a pitch to lead off the top of the fifth and then swiped the bag at second. An infield single from Lipsey moved Giamarusti up 90 feet. Kaczmar then walked to load the bases. Bases-loaded walks for Graveline, Mershon and Okuley extended the Ohio State lead, 14-1. Rosson reached base on a fielder's choice, sending Graveline home to put the Buckeyes up by 14, 15-1.
- Nebraska scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Buckeyes had a commanding 15-2 lead.
- The Buckeyes held the Huskers scoreless in the seventh to earn the 15-2 run-rule victory.
- Every starter in the Ohio State lineup had at least one hit on the night.
- Lipsey led the Buckeyes with three hits and Kaczmar, Mershon, Okuley and Rosson each had two hits.
- Mershon had a team-high four RBIs. Pettorini, Okuley, Rosson and Giamarusti each drove in two runs.
- Landon Beidelschies (6-7) was dominant on the mound. He fanned eight and allowed just one run on two hits in 5.0 innings pitched.
- Chase Herrell and Zach Brown each struck out two in 1.0-inning relief appearances.
- The Buckeyes face No. 3 Indiana on Thursday, May 23 at 3:00 p.m. ET.
