
Graveline Homers in 10th Inning to Lift Buckeyes Over Rutgers

Game Recap
- Trey Lipsey drew a walk to lead off the game and advanced to second on a wild pitch. A fly-out from Henry Kaczmar moved Lipsey to third and a groundout from Isaac Cadena sent Lipsey home to give the Buckeyes the early 1-0 lead over the Scarlet Knights.
- Mitchell Okuley and Joseph Mershon drew back-to-back walks to lead off the top of the second inning. Okuley was caught stealing, and Mershon advanced to second during the play. Ryan Miller walked and Matthew Graveline reached on a fielder's choice. Mershon scored on a Scarlet Knight throwing error on the same play to put Ohio State ahead, 2-0.
- Tyler Pettorini had the first hit of the game for the Buckeyes, singling to left field in the top of the third.
- The Scarlet Knights got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, scoring on an RBI double to cut the Ohio State lead in half, 2-1.
- With one out in the top of the fifth, Cadena hit a ground-rule double to left center, but he was picked off on the next play. With two outs, Pettorini and Okuley earned consecutive walks, but they were stranded on base.
- In the bottom of the sixth, the Scarlet Knights took the lead, 3-2, after a two-run home run.
- With two outs in the top of the ninth, pinch hitter Nick Giamarusti drew a walk. Lipsey then singled through the left side to put two runners on. Giamarusti scored on a Rutgers throwing error to tie the game, 3-3.
- The Buckeyes held the Scarlet Knights scoreless in the bottom of the ninth, forcing the game into extra innings.
- With one out in the top of the tenth, Okuley singled to left field, followed by a walk from Mershon. Matthew Graveline stepped up to the dish with two outs on the board and he came up big, blasting one over the wall in right field to plate three runs and put Ohio State back in the lead, 6-3.
- The Buckeyes held Rutgers off in the bottom of the tenth to come away with the 6-3 win.
- Graveline led the Buckeyes with two hits and three RBIs.
- Kaczmar, Graveline and Giamarusti each had one stolen base.
- Starter Landon Beidelschies fanned seven and gave up three runs on five hits in a 7.0-inning no-decision.
- Baline Wynk (2-0) earned the win. He struck out two and allowed four hits in 3.0 scoreless innings.
- The Buckeyes continue their series against Rutgers Friday at 3:00 p.m. and Saturday at 11:00 a.m.m
