Rosson Drives in Career-High Six Runs in Loss to Michigan State

Game Recap
- The Spartans took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first after a solo home run.
- A three-run homer from the Spartans in the top of the second extended their lead over the Buckeyes, 4-0.
- Joseph Mershon was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the second and he advanced to second base on a wild pitch. A single up the middle from Nick Giamarusti put runners on the corners for the Buckeyes. Hunter Rosson stepped up to the plate with two outs on the board and he went yard, homering over the wall in left center field to put Ohio State within one run of the Spartans, 4-3.
- Michigan State hit another home run in the top of the third to get ahead of the Buckeyes by two, 5-3.
- The Buckeyes answered in the bottom of the third. With one out on the board, Tyler Pettorini singled through the left side, followed by a single from Mershon. Mitchell Okuley was next up and he doubled down the right field line, plating two runs to tie the score, 5-5. Giamarusti then doubled to left field to put himself and Okuley in scoring position. With two outs, Rosson came up big once again, singling to left field to send two runs home and give Ohio State its first lead of the game, 7-5. A single from Kaczmar scored Rosson and put the Buckeyes ahead of the Spartans, 8-5.
- The Spartans had a big top of the fourth, scoring six runs, with four coming off of home runs, to reclaim the lead, 11-8.
- Michigan State extended its lead to four, 12-8, after plating a run on a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning.
- Giamarusti led off with a bunt single in the bottom of the fifth and used his speed to advance to third base on a Spartan throwing error. Josh Stevenson drew a walk next and Rosson continued his big day, doubling to left center to send Giamarusti home and put the Buckeyes within three runs of the lead, 12-9. Trey Lipsey was at the dish next and he blasted one over the wall in right field to send three runs across home plate and tie the score, 12-12.
- A two-RBI single and a two-RBI double from the Spartans in the top of the sixth put them back ahead of the Buckeyes, 16-12.
- In the top of the seventh, Michigan State took a five-run lead, 17-12, after an RBI single.
- The Buckeyes were retired in order in the seventh and eighth. In the bottom of the ninth, Giamarusti drew a walk with one out on the board, but Stevenson hit into a double play to end the game.
- Rosson went 3-for-4 at the plate with a career-high six RBIs. He was just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.
- Lipsey and Giamarusti also added three hits for the Buckeyes. Lipsey drove in three runs.
- Starter Gavin Bruni struck out four and gave up seven runs on six hits in a 3.0-inning no-decision.
- Jacob Morin (4-1) took the loss. He allowed five runs on four hits in 2.0 innings pitched.
- Noah Williamson struck out two and gave up one hit in a 2.0-inning relief appearance.
