
Ohio State Falls to Michigan State, 11-4

Game Recap
- Michigan State took the lead in the top of the second inning, getting ahead of the Buckeyes 2-0 after a two-run home run.
- The Buckeyes turned a 6-3 double play in the top of the third to keep the Spartans off the board.
- In the bottom of the third, Nolan Farley had the first hit of the game, and the first of his collegiate career, for the Buckeyes, singling to left field with two outs on the board. He was stranded on base, however, as the next Buckeye hit a fly-out.
- The Spartans plated two more runs in the top of the fourth to extend their lead over Ohio State, 4-0. Ohio State turned another double play to get out of the inning.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Henry Kaczmar singled to left field. Matthew Graveline was next at the plate and he doubled to right center field to put himself and Kaczmar into scoring position. A groundout from Tyler Pettorin scored Kaczmar and a sacrifice fly from Joseph Mershon plated Graveline to cut the Michigan State lead in half, 4-2.
- The Spartans, however, got back ahead by four runs, 6-2, in the top of the fifth after another two-run home run.
- With two outs on the board in the bottom of the sixth, Pettorini doubled down the left field line, but he was stranded.
- An RBI single and a score on a sacrifice fly from the Spartans in the top of the seventh extended their lead over the Buckeyes, 8-2.
- Michigan State plated two more runs in the top of the eighth on an RBI single and a score on a Buckeye balk to take a 10-2 lead.
- In the bottom of the eighth with one out, Trey Lipsey was hit by a pitch to reach base. Kaczmar went yard next, sending his fourth home run of the season out of the park to send two runs across for the Buckeyes and cut the Michigan State lead to six, 10-4.
- Michigan State tacked on one more run in the top of the ninth after and RBI single to take an 11-4 lead over the Buckeyes.
- The Buckeyes were retired in order in the bottom of the ninth and fell to the Spartans, 11-4, in the series opener.
- Kaczmar led the Buckeyes with two hits and two RBIs. Graveline, Pettorini, Mitchell Okuley and Farley each added one hit.
- Landon Beidelschies (4-7) took the loss. He struck out one and allowed six runs on nine hits in 5.0 innings pitched.
- The Buckeyes take on the Spartans on Saturday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. and on Sunday, April 28 at 1:00 p.m.
