
Buckeyes Split Series Against Wright State

Game Recap
- With two outs on the board in the top of the first inning, Matthew Graveline doubled down the right field line and Mitchell Okuley was walked to put two runners on. A double from Joseph Mershon sent Graveline home and gave the Buckeyes an early 1-0 lead over the Raiders.
- A three-run home run from the Raiders in the bottom of the first put them ahead of the Buckeyes, 3-1.
- An RBI double from Wright State in the bottom of the third put the Raiders ahead of Ohio State by three, 4-1.
- Zach Fjelstad hit a two-out double to left center in the bottom of the third inning. Nick Giamarusti was up next and he drew a walk, followed by a walk for Mason Eckelman to load the bases. Hunter Rosson stepped up to the plate, and he hit a no-doubter over the wall in center field, sending in four runs to put Ohio State back in the lead, 5-4.
- In the top of the fifth, Henry Kaczmar led off with a single to center field. Graveline then singled to left field and Okuley was walked to load the bases with no outs on the board. Mershon was walked, sending Kaczmar home, and Fjelstad was hit by a pitch to score Graveline and extend the Buckeye lead to three, 7-4. Okuley scored on an RBI fielder's choice for Giamarusti and Mershon scored on an RBI groundout from Mason Eckelman to put Ohio State up by five, 9-4.
- A two-run homer, two bases-loaded walks, a sacrifice fly and a three-run home run from the Raiders in the bottom of the fifth put them in the lead, 12-9.
- Trey Lipsey hit a single into shallow center field to open the sixth inning for the Buckeyes. A single to right field from Kaczmar advanced Lipsey to third to put runners on the corners. The Raiders, however, got the next three outs to keep the Buckeyes off the board.
- Mershon singled to shortstop to lead off the seventh and advanced to second on a Fjelstad groundout. With two outs, Will Henson came in as a pinch hitter and drew a walk. Josh Stevenson singled to once again load the bases for Ohio State. Lipsey and Kaczmar were both walked with bases loaded to cut the Raider lead to one, 12-11.
- Ryan Miller singled to shallow center field to lead off the ninth, followed by a double to left field from Stevenson to put both in scoring position. A groundout from Lipsey scored Miller to tie the score, 12-12, and a sacrifice fly from Kaczmar on the next play sent Stevenson home to put Ohio State back in the lead, 13-12.
- In the bottom of the ninth, closer Justin Eckhardt entered the game for the Buckeyes. After walking the lead-off batter, the Buckeyes got the next two outs. However, the Raiders scored two runs, one on a Buckeye error and one on an RBI single to earn the 14-13 walk-off win.
- Kaczmar, Graveline, Mershon and Stevenson led the Buckeyes with two hits each.
- Rosson led the Buckeyes with four RBIs. Lipsey, Kaczmar and Mershon each batted in two runs.
- Starter Hunter Shaw struck out two and allowed four runs on three hits in a 3.0-inning no-decision.
- Jaylen Jones fanned two in 2.0-innings of hitless, scoreless relief.
- Eckhardt (0-2) took the loss. He allowed two runs on one hit in 0.2 innings pitched.
- The Buckeyes welcome Michigan State to Bill Davis Stadium for a three-game series April 26-28.
