Buckeyes Win Hession Invite Sunday at Scarlet

COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio State women's golf team shot back-to-back rounds of 283 to win the Therese Hession Buckeye Invite by 20 strokes. The Buckeyes were 5-under Sunday to finish the 54-hole event at 7-under overall (857). It is the Buckeyes' 18th time winning the tournament.
Ohio State placed the Top 3 individuals with senior Caley McGinty earning the tournament championship with a score of 210 (-6). The individual title was her seventh collegiate tournament title. McGinty fired three under-par rounds, finishing the tournament off with a one-under 71 on Sunday.
Faith Choi and Kary Hollenbaugh tied for second overall, each shooting a two-under 214 over the two-day event. In the final round, Choi shot the lowest-round of the day among the 75-player field, firing a 69 (-3). Hollenbaugh carded a 71 (-1) in round three. Choi led the field in pars with 43 and Hollenbaugh led in birdies with 13.
Kailie Vongsaga shot an even 72 in round three to finish with a three-round score of 219 (+3). She tied for ninth place.
Jillian Bourdage placed 27th. She shot 77 (+5) in the final round and finished the tournament with a score of 226 (+10).
Emily Hummer moved 10 spots up the leaderboard to finish tied for 55th place. She shaved five strokes off her round two score to card a 74 (+2) in the third round for a 54-hole total of 234 (+18).
Kavya Ajjarapu, who competed as an individual, shot 80 (+8) in round three to finish tied for 63rd with a score of 238 (+22).
Ohio State took the team crown over 10 other Big Ten opponents and Kent State. Michigan State placed second at +13 (877). The Buckeyes led the 12-team field in par 3 scoring (3.06), par 4 scoring (4.16), par 5 scoring (4.85), pars (213) and birdies (48).
The Buckeyes travel next to the Big Ten Championships April 19-21 at Blue Rock Golf Course in Havre de Grace, Maryland.
