
Ohio State Dominates Iowa, 11-1, to Win Series

Game Recap
- The Hawkeyes took a quick 1-0 lead after an RBI single in the top of the first inning.
- With one out on the board in the bottom of the second, Mitchell Okuley singled up the middle and Joseph Mershon was walked to put two runners on. With two outs, Ryan Miller reached after being hit by a pitch to load the bases. Josh Stevenson then drew a walk to plate Okuley and tie the score 1-1. Trey Lipsey was up next; he singled up the middle to drive in Mershon and put the Buckeyes in the lead, 2-1.
- In the bottom of the fourth inning with one out, Isaac Cadena smoked a double down the right field line. Miller drew a walk and Lipsey was hit by a pitch, loading the bases once again for the Buckeyes. Henry Kaczmar was walked, Cadena scored and the Buckeyes took a two-run advantage, 3-1.
- The Buckeyes bats came alive in the bottom of the fifth. With one out, Okuley went yard, sending the ball over the wall in center field to put Ohio State up by three, 4-1. Mershon singled to right field and a groundout from Cadena advanced him to third. Miller was next at the dish and he came up big, hitting one 453 feet over the right field wall to drive in two runs give the Buckeyes a 6-1 lead. Stevenson was plunked by a pitch to reach base and lead-off hitter Lipsey came up next, hitting the third home run of the inning for the Buckeyes to send two more runs across and put Ohio State ahead by seven, 8-1.
- Miller singled to right field to lead off the home half of the seventh. Stevenson then blasted the fourth homer of the day out of the park to extend the Ohio State lead to nine runs, 10-1.
- In the bottom of the eighth, Mershon, Cadena and pinch hitter Hunter Rosson were all walked to load the bases for the Buckeyes once more. An RBI fielder's choice for Stevenson sent pinch runner Zach Freeman home and cemented the 11-1 win for the Buckeyes.
- Lipsey, Okuley, Mershon and Miller led the Buckeyes with two hits each.
- Stevenson had a team-high and season-high four RBIs. Lipsey drove in three runs.
- Gavin DeVooght struck out two and allowed one run on three hits in a 4.0-inning no-decision.
- Jacob Morin (3-0) earned the win. He struck out one and gave up one hit in a 2.0-inning relief appearance.
- The Buckeyes host Wright State on Tuesday, April 16 at 6:00 p.m. and head to Kent State on Wednesday, April 17 for a 6:00 p.m. matchup.
