Game Recap
- Both teams went scoreless early, with starter Gavin Bruni fanning four in his first three innings of work.
- In the bottom of the third, Josh Stevenson led off with a single to left field and advanced to second on a wild pitch. A single to right field from Mason Eckelman advanced Stevenson to third to put runners on the corners. Designated hitter Nick Giamarusti was next at the plate and, although he grounded into a double play, Stevenson scored to give the Buckeyes a 1-0 lead. Henry Kaczmar doubled down the left field line to get into scoring position. Matthew Graveline then singled to the third baseman. An error from the Hoyas advanced Graveline and sent Kaczmar home to give Ohio State a 2-0 lead.
- The Hoyas got on the board in the top of the fifth after drawing a bases-loaded walk to cut the Buckeye lead in half, 2-1.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Stevenson hit a two-out double, sailing the ball into shallow center field, but he was stranded on base.
- Graveline singled with two outs on the board in the bottom of the eighth, but the Hoyas got the third out and he was left on base.
- An RBI single from Georgetown in the top of the ninth tied the score, 2-2.
- Mitchell Okuley drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the ninth and a sacrifice bunt from Joseph Mershon advanced Okuley into scoring position. Trey Lipsey was intentionally walked to put two runners on for the Buckeyes. The next two Buckeyes up were retired, however, and the game went into a 10th inning.
- A two-RBI double sent the game-winning run home for the Hoyas in the top of the 10th inning. Kaczmar and Tyler Pettorini were both walked in the bottom of the 10th, but they were left on base as the Hoyas earned the 4-2 win and the three-game series sweep.
- Graveline and Stevenson led the Buckeyes with two hits each.
- Bruni fanned seven and allowed one run on one hit in a 4.2-inning no-decision.
- Justin Eckhardt (0-1) took the loss on the hill. He struck out one and gave up three runs on five hits in 1.2 innings pitched.
- The Buckeyes host Kent State on Tuesday, March 26 at 6:00 p.m.
