
Louis and Tobias Earn Individual Titles at Final Day of Big Ten Indoor Championships

The Buckeyes wrapped up the indoor championships with the men in fourth as a team and the women in ninth.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track & field team wrapped up competition at the 2024 Big Ten Indoor Championships on Saturday at SPIRE Institute. The Buckeye men finished fourth with 80.33 points and the Buckeye women finished ninth with 38 points.
Mason Louis won the men's 400m with a personal-best time of 45.89 to move into sole possession of fourth in program history. Hayden Tobias won the men's shot put with a season-best throw of 20.01m / 65'7.75" as only the second one in the country this season to throw for 20 meters.
TRACK FINALS
- 400m: Bryannia Murphy finished fourth (52.78) on the women's side, less than 0.1 seconds off her personal-best and top-five program time from the prelims. The Buckeye men had three score points in the event as Antonio Hanson finished fourth (46.84) and Noah Carmichael finished fifth (46.87), both running personal-best times behind Louis' championship run.
- 60m: Leah Bertrand was the women's runner-up (7.29), while Columba Effiong finished eighth (7.48). The Buckeye men also had two score points as Nazzio John was third (6.69) and Marcus Brown was eighth (6.81). Â Â
- 60m hurdles: On the men's side, Braxton Brann was the runner-up, finishing in a personal-best 7.71 to rank third in program history. The Buckeye women had three in the finals with Marcia Sey finishing fourth (8.22), followed by Janela Spencer in seventh (8.34) and Olivia Powell in 10th (8.39).
- 200m: Brann earned his second runner-up finish of the day, running a personal-best 20.69 to improve his time in third on the program's all-time leaders list. John finished seventh (21.20). On the women's side, Bertrand finished fifth (23.81). All three were running their second race of the day.
- 4x400m relay: The Buckeye men's squad (Hanson, Armani Modeste, Carmichael and Louis) finished as the runner-up squad with a season-best time of 3:07.09. The Buckeye women's squad, comprised of Chanler Robinson, Fatouma Conde, Powell and Aniya Mosley, finished in 3:45.44.
- 600m: Alex Kenish was fifth (1:17.36) among the men's field.
- 800m: Mosley finished eighth (2:08.23) on the women's side. Â Â
- 3000m: Andrea Kuhn rounded out the top-10 to lead the Buckeye women with a personal-best 9:24.35, improving upon her time in the fourth spot in program history. Sean Carney led the Buckeye men with a season-best time of 8:13.75.
FIELD FINALS
- High jump: Shaun Miller Jr. was third among the men by clearing 2.15m / 7'0.5" on his first attempt, while Reign Winston was ninth (2.09m / 6'10.25"). Amaya Ugarte finished fourth among the women by clearing 1.77m / 5'9.75" on her first attempt. Â Â
- Triple jump: Zamesha Myle led the Buckeye women (11.79m / 38'8.25") and Brian Kellon was the lone entry for the Buckeye men, posting a personal-best mark of 14.44m / 47'4.5". Â Â
- Shot put: Following Tobias' win, Adam Riedinger rounded out the top-10 on the men's side with a personal-best throw (17.88m / 58'8"). Lacey Stringer had the best mark (15.02m / 49'3.5") among the Buckeye women.Â
