Ohio Stadium Turf Tours Let Fans Watch History Get Replaced in Real Time

A special opportunity awaits fans from July 22-31 inside Ohio Stadium
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- On the banks of the Olentangy, the legendary Ohio Stadium stands as one of the most recognizable landmarks in all of college athletics. The horseshoe-shaped stadium has long been a monument to college football, and this summer, fans will have the chance to see a new chapter unfold inside The Shoe.Â
During a special two-week period in July, Ohio Stadium Tours will offer a limited-time Turf Tours experience, giving guests the opportunity to go behind the scenes of Ohio Stadium and watch the field transformation up close. Tour guests will visit the Press Box, NetJets Landing, the Huntington Club, the Band Center and the Home Locker Room before heading to field level to see the current turf come out and the new turf go in.Â
Ohio State will install a new playing surface at Ohio Stadium featuring Shaw Sports Turf's Forge Seriesâ„¢ system, installed by The Motz Group. The new field will continue to be sponsored by Safelite and will be in place for the 2026 football season. Shaw's Forge Seriesâ„¢ is a system-level product line designed to meet NFL standards and features Game ON® technology, which integrates field markings directly into the turf.Â
The installation reflects Ohio State's long-term approach to keeping Ohio Stadium game-ready and visually aligned with the Buckeye brand. The updated surface also gives Ohio State staff added flexibility for branding opportunities around themed games and special events.Â
Each Turf Tours guest will also receive a piece of National Championship turf to take home, while supplies last.Â
