
Fong’s Pole Vault Win Highlights Day One at Louisville

The Buckeyes competed in the first day of the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational on Friday.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track & field team competed in the first day of the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational in Louisville, Ky. on Friday.
Sophie Fong won the women's pole vault unseeded competition by clearing 3.83m / 12'6.75" on her first attempt.
- 200m seeded: The Buckeye women had four in the top-10, led by Leah Bertrand as the runner-up (23.73). Columba Effiong (fifth – 24.05), Nya Bussey (eighth – 24.49) and Chanler Robinson (10th – 24.54) were also in the top-10. Braxton Brann (21.22) and Mason Louis (21.23) led the Buckeye men by finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
- Pole vault unseeded: Behind Fong's win, Morgan Fijalkowski was the runner up (3.83m / 12'6.75" and AnneMarie Moses tied for sixth (3.68m / 12'0.75").
- Weight throw: The Buckeye men had three finish in the top-six with Tanner Watson leading the way in third (19.50m / 63'11.75"), Carlos Aviles fifth (19.03m / 62'5.25") and Hayden Tobias sixth (18.38m / 60'3.75"). Lacey Stringer led the women with a third-place finish (17.59m / 57'8.5").
- 3000m: The Buckeye women had three of the top-six times. Andrea Kuhn led the way in third (9:24.64), less than a second off her personal-best time. Daniella Santos finished fourth (9:29.83) and Akemi Von Scherr was sixth (9:44.98). Sean Carney led the OSU men in sixth overall (8:15.03).
- 800m: Ohio State's women had three of the eight-fastest times. Aniya Mosley was the runner-up (2:05.02), while Carina Napoleon was sixth (2:10.63) and Gia Napoleon was eighth (2:10.99). Alex Kenish was the runner-up for the men (1:50.90).
- High jump elite: Amaya Ugarte finished third overall, clearing 1.82m / 5'11.5" on her third attempt. She was the only NCAA-affiliated athlete to clear 1.82m.
- Long jump elite: Kayla Watson was fourth (5.93m / 19'5.5") in the women's competition, while DJ Fillmore was fifth (7.32m / 24'0.25") in the men's competition.
- Pole vault seeded: Abbey Kuhn tied for fifth by clearing 3.88m / 12'8.75" on her first attempt.
- Long jump: Zamesha Myle finished sixth overall (5.62m / 18'5.25").
- 400m unseeded: Noah Carmichael was the men's runner-up (48.60).
- 200m unseeded: Both Buckeye women finished in the top-five with Janela Spencer third (24.78) and Sydney Bryant fifth (24.81).
- 60m qualifying prelims: Nick Biega was the runner-up (6.93) to move onto tomorrow's prelims.
