Ohio State Wins Navy Open

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 6 Ohio State men's gymnastics team (6-0) won the competition with 397.300 points at the Navy Open on Saturday, competing against Navy, Penn State, Springfield, Temple and William & Mary. The Buckeyes improved upon five of their event scores from last week.
Ohio State had two event wins. Justin Ciccone stuck his vault for the second-straight meet to earn a career-high 14.950. Caden Spencer won the parallel bars competition for the second-straight meet with a 13.950, tying for the highest score.
How it Happened
Parallel Bars
Ohio State totaled 67.000 as a team on parallel bars and was second after the first rotation, only trailing the team that started on vault. Caden Spencer led the team with a 13.950 to tie for the highest score of the competition, while Tyler Rockwood followed with a 13.800. Kazuki Hayashi earned a 13.300 and Kristian Grahovski earned a 12.800 in their season debuts. Drake Andrews got the best score of his freshman season by sticking his dismount for a 13.150.
High Bar
The Buckeyes totaled 65.050 on high bar and 132.050 after their first two rotations. Grahovski led the way with a career-high 13.600 and a stuck dismount to finish second overall. Hayashi was close behind with a 13.400 to finish third. Chase Davenport-Mills earned a 12.850, Spencer's total was 12.750 and Parker Thackston wrapped up the OSU lineup with a 12.450.
Floor
The Buckeyes were in second place midway through the meet with 197.650 points after three rotations and a 65.600 on floor. Hayashi led the way with 13.600 to finish second in the meet, followed by Zach Snyder's career-high 13.200 and Kameron Nelson's 13.150. Davenport-Mills' 13.000 and Ciccone's 12.650 wrapped up the Buckeyes' lineup.
Pommel Horse
Ohio State's total was 261.150 after four rotations and a 63.500 on pommel horse. Thackston's 13.600 led the Buckeyes and ranked third overall, followed closely by Grahovski's 13.400. Michael Nguyen made his collegiate debut, earning a 12.800. Jesse Pakele (12.650) and Davenport-Mills (11.050) rounded out the Buckeyes' lineup.
Rings
Ohio State was second with 325.550 with one rotation remaining after scoring 64.400 as a team on rings. Grahovski (13.350) and Nelson (13.300) led the Buckeyes' lineup, finishing second and third, respectively. Rockwood (12.800), Donovan Hewitt (12.550) and Arthur Ashton (12.400) also competed.
Vault
The Buckeyes wrapped up the day with a 71.750 on vault. Ciccone stuck his second vault of the season to earn a career-high 14.950 and win the competition. Davenport-Mills and Nelson each earned a 14.500. Snyder had a 14.400 and Hayashi rounded out the Buckeyes' lineup with a 13.400.
