Four Buckeyes Set to Compete in 2026 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships

The championships will take place this Thursday through Sunday in Phoenix.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four Buckeyes are slated to compete in the 2026 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Phoenix, Ariz. this Thursday through Sunday. Kameron Nelson ('25) and Parker Thackston ('26) are alumni of the Ohio State men's gymnastics program, while David Ramirez is currently on the roster and Anthony Ruscheinsky will join the roster as a freshman this fall.
The four Buckeyes are among 52 competitors in the senior men's competition. The senior men are scheduled to compete on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET and again on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET. Both days of competition will be available on NBC Sports Network and Peacock, as well as the USA Gymnastics YouTube channel. Visit the Xfinity Championships website for more information.
Since graduating from Ohio State, Nelson earned a spot on the 2025 World Championships Team, where he advanced to the final on floor. He also captured silver medals on both floor and vault at the 2025 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships. The 2025 NCAA vault champion was also a member of the U.S. Men's Senior National team for additional competitions like the 2026 Pan American Games.
Thackston earned a spot on the U.S. Men's Senior National team this past year after capturing the pommel horse title at the 2026 Winter Cup. His personal-best score (15.325) was the highest on any apparatus by an NCAA gymnast this season. The 2026 Nissen Emery Award finalist was twice an All-American on pommel horse at the NCAA Championships and earned regular season All-American honors on pommel horse three times. Thackston capped his collegiate career as the 2026 Big Ten Specialist of the Year.
Ramirez is a rising junior on the Buckeye roster. As a sophomore, Ramirez earned a spot on the All-Big Ten First Team by finishing fourth in the all-around and also tied for fourth on parallel bars. He earned CGA regular season All-American honors on both vault and parallel bars after doing so on vault as a freshman in 2025.
Ruscheinsky will join the Buckeyes this fall as a freshman. Most recently, Ruscheinsky competed at the Junior Pan American Championships, helping the team win and individually finishing fourth in the all-around, fifth on vault and seventh on high bar. At the 2026 Men's Development Program National Championships, he won high bar and finished second on vault and fifth in the all-around. Ruscheinsky has also competed at the Xfinity U.S. Championships in the junior division the past two years.
