Kameron Nelson Lands on Senior Men’s National Team, David Ramirez Named to Senior Men’s Development Team

Four total Buckeyes competed at the Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships this past weekend.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four Buckeyes competed in the 2026 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Phoenix, Ariz. this weekend. Kameron Nelson ('25) earned a spot on the Men's Senior National Team and will represent Team USA at the 2026 World Championships after earning three medals this weekend. David Ramirez earned a spot on the Men's Senior Development Team after a solid showing in the all-around competition this weekend. Parker Thackston ('26) earned bronze on pommel horse and Anthony Ruscheinsky also competed.
Nelson won the vault competition with a combined score of 28.745, besting the runner-up by more than 1.500. He was the lone competitor to score better than 14.000 on both days and stuck his second vault on Thursday. Nelson also medaled on rings (29.350), capturing silver, and floor (28.264), capturing bronze. His 15.401 on floor on Saturday was the highest floor score of the weekend, while his 15.025 on rings on Saturday was the second-highest rings score of the weekend. Nelson will compete in his second World Championships this October after reaching the floor finals in the 2025 World Championships.
Ramirez earned a spot on the Men's Senior Development Team after finishing 13th in the all-around competition. He totaled 156.650 in the all-around, improving his score from 77.000 on Thursday to 79.650 on Saturday. Ramirez finished in the top 10 in floor (26.850), 11th on pommel horse (26.550), 14th on rings (25.900) and 15th on parallel bars (27.050) in a competition that saw more than 30 all-around competitors qualify for the final day.
Thackston earned bronze on pommel horse. His Saturday score (16.041) was the highest score of the competition on any event as he earned a 9.000 for his execution on a routine with a 6.1 difficulty. Thackston earned 13.741 on Thursday.
Ruscheinsky competed in the senior division for the first time as he is an incoming freshman. He finished 36th in the all-around competition on Thursday with a score of 66.700. Ruscheinsky's best scores came on vault (12.300), followed by floor (11.850), rings (11.500) and high bar (11.450).
