
Quartet Heads to Fall Ranked Spotlight

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four members of the Ohio State women's tennis team will compete in the Fall Ranked Spotlight this weekend in North Carolina. The four-day tournament starts Thursday with doubles matches on the NC State campus in Raleigh. Singles matches are slated for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with a third round of doubles Sunday. The final three days are set to be played at Cary Tennis Park in Cary.

In doubles, there are eight groups of four teams, with each duo playing two matches Thursday and a third Sunday. The Buckeyes' No. 14-ranked tandem of Irina Cantos Siemers and Sydni Ratliff is in the A group and slated to start competing at 5 p.m. Thursday vs. a team from Auburn. Freshmen Luciana Perry and Teah Chavez are paired up in the H group and will take on a duo from Oklahoma in their first match at 5:45 p.m. Thursday.

Singles, with two draws, will start Friday morning. Ratliff and Cantos Siemers are in the A-1 draw, with Cantos Siemers the No. 6 seed. Perry and Chavez are in the A-2 draw. Play includes backdraws and each player is slated for five matches over the three days.

The Buckeyes will be joined by players from host NC State, Arizona State, Auburn, Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCF, USC and Virginia. All participating schools ended the 2023 campaign ranked in the Top 50 of the ITA team rankings.

The Buckeyes Competing at the Fall Ranked Spotlight
- No. 16-ranked Irina Cantos Siemers, a three-time unanimous All-Big Ten selection, was the 2023 Big Ten Athlete of the Year. A graduate student in her fifth year as a Buckeye, she has been named team captain of the 2023-24 squad.
- No. 27-ranked Sydni Ratliff, a junior, was the 2022 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and a 2023 All-Big Ten honoree. She is a two-time NCAA Tournament singles qualifier.
- Cantos Siemers and Ratliff are the nation's No. 14-ranked doubles team and have won an ITA Midwest Region championship.
- Luciana Perry, a freshman from Export, Pa., was ranked 10th among college tennis newcomers this fall. The blue chip recruit was ranked first in her state.
- Freshman Teah Chavez, a native of Regina, Saskatchewan, has played for Team Canada and been ranked in the Top 10 nationally.
