
Cantos Siemers and Perry Head to ITA Fall Nationals

 COLUMBUS, Ohio – Irina Cantos Siemers and Luciana Perry of the Ohio State women's tennis team will compete in the ITA National Fall Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif., this week. The final event of the fall season, Cantos Siemers will be in the 32-player singles draw and will pair with Perry in the 32-team doubles draw.

The Buckeye Tandem in California
- Irina Cantos Siemers, a graduate student in her fifth year at Ohio State, is the reigning Big Ten Athlete of the Year. The native of Brussels, Belgium, is a three-time First Team All-Big Ten selection and two-time ITA All-American.
- Cantos Siemers, who began the year ranked 14th and has been as high as No. 4, reached the semifinals of the ITA Midwest Regional this fall. She is 11-5 in singles so far this campaign.
- Freshman Luciana Perry, from Export, Pa., was ranked the No. 10 newcomer in collegiate tennis entering the fall campaign. She has a 10-5 singles mark in her first collegiate campaign.
- Cantos Siemers and Perry were the runner-up at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships earlier this month, posting five wins in a row before falling in a tiebreaker in the championship match. They are 5-1 as a duo this year.
- At the 2021 ITA National Fall Championships, Cantos Siemers and Sydni Ratliff competed in doubles, falling in the first round to the No. 2 seed in a super tiebreaker before posting a consolation win.
- The ITA National Fall Championships close out the 2023 portion of the Buckeye schedule.
- The Buckeyes will return to action at the Michigan Invite Jan. 12-14 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
- Ohio State's full dual match schedule will be announced later this month. The squad will open its home slate hosting ITA Kickoff Weekend matches Jan. 26-27, welcoming Kansas, Arizona State and Notre Dame to the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
