The Opponent
- Toledo comes in at 11-11 on the season and has already played 11 Mid-American Conference games, holding a 6-5 mark in those games
- The Rockets are coming off a wild weekend that featured more than six hours of baseball on Friday and a 14-13 12-inning game on Saturday. Toledo swept the Friday doubleheader with Miami (Ohio) which included an 8-7 win in 12 innings in game one. The Rockets were then on the wrong end of the 14-13 game on Saturday.
- Mason Sykes leads the team in hitting at .338 with seven home runs and a team-high 24 runs batted in.
- Cal McAninch has made a team-high eight appearances out of the pen and boasts a 1.59 ERA with 12 strikeouts and just one walk in 11.1 innings.
- Starter Cole Rodriguez will be making his first start of the season. He transferred from National Park CC, where appeared in 13 games, striking out 76 in 58.2 innings
Ohio State Quick Hitters
- Ohio State enters the week at 8-12 overall and is coming off a tough weekend in West Lafayette. After dropping the series opener with Purdue on Friday night, the teams sat around on Saturday and Sunday before cancelling the final two games due to inclement weather.
- The Buckeyes are hitting .265 as a team this season
- Marcus Ernst continues to lead the way at the top, hitting .438 with 32 hits and a team-high tying 17 runs scored. He had his career-long 13-game hitting streak snapped last Friday at Purdue despite going 0-for-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly.
- Kade Kern hit .625 (5-of-8) with two doubles, two home runs and six runs batted in the Buckeyes’ two games last week. He was 3-for-4 with two doubles in the win over Wright State last Tuesday and then homered in his first two at-bats against Purdue on Friday, driving in four runs. Those were his first two home runs of the season and his second and third multi-hit games of the season

- Freshman Tyler Pettorini had a seven-game hit streak earlier this season and is currently hitting .326 with four doubles and eight RBI
- Fellow freshman Jake Johnson continues to lead the team in ERA at 1.15 as he has allowed just two runs in 15.2 innings out of the pen.
