COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State begins its outdoor track and field season this weekend at the Arizona State Baldy Castillo Invite in Tempe, Ariz. Action commences on Friday with field events starting at 1:30 p.m. ET and track events starting at 8:30 p.m. ET. Live results will be available at the link above.
- The Big Ten Conference announced its yearly awards this week, following the conclusion of the indoor season. Adelaide Aquilla was the unanimous choice for Female Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, while Anavia Battle was selected as the Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.
- Six student-athletes competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships last weekend.
- Aquilla finished as the runner up in the women’s shot put (17.95m) and Battle was third in the women’s 200m (22.64) as both earned All-American First Team honors.
- Luke Bendick, Tyler Johnson, Amaya Ugarte and Leo Uusimaki also competed at NCAA’s and earned All-American Second Team honors by finishing in the ninth to 16th individual range in their respective events.
- The Buckeyes finished second on both the men’s and women’s side at the Big Ten Indoor Championships at the end of February.
- The Ohio State women were ranked 15th in the latest USTFCCCA weekly poll on Monday.
- Adelaide Aquilla (field), Anavia Battle (track) and Tyler Johnson (track) were all named Big Ten Athletes of the Championships, while Tyrese Fajardo joined Aquilla as the Sportsmanship Honorees.
- The Ohio State men had nine earn a spot on an all-conference team while the women had six. Three on each squad were named to the first team – Aquilla, Battle and Jaimie Robinson on the women’s side and Johnson, Bendick and Uusimaki on the men’s side.
