COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Buckeye Drew Rucinski was called up to the Miami Marlins on June 3 and has been a strong contributor to the big league bullpen over the last month. In 13 appearances, the right-hander has collected a 4-1 record with a 3.12 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 17.1 innings of work. Opposing hitters have just a .190 mark vs. Rucinski, who is looking to return off the 10-day disabled list soon.
“It was pretty cool to get an opportunity and go up there for the Marlins,” Rucinski said. “My velocity was up and I was making good pitches, especially with my cutter. The wins are nice but that’s sort of the luck of the game being a middle reliever you know. It reminds me of when I had 12 win during college ball in 2009. That’s just baseball. I just started my rehab in Jupiter and I hope to get back on the mound very soon.”
