
Ohio State Falls on the Road at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Ohio State men’s soccer team fell, 3-0, at Syracuse on a warm fall Monday night in front of 1,856 fans at SU Soccer Complex. With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 1-9-2 overall, while the Orange improve to 6-4-1 in 2018. The Buckeyes will be back in action at 5 p.m. Friday vs. Michigan State. The match will be Senior Day at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
The Buckeyes started well with some strong spells of possession, including a chip shot from 17 yards out by Xavier Green that knocked off the crossbar in the 24th minute. However, two first-half goals gave the Orange a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. Ohio State had another great chance in the 39th minute, but Michael Prosuk’s shot from eight yards out was denied by a Syracuse defender on the goal line.
Ohio State came out in the second half with some quality crosses and held possession well, coming close to breaking through the Syracuse defense. But the Orange picked up their third and final goal in the 84th minute when Syracuse forward Massimo Ferrin curled a shot into the back of the net for his second of the night.
Overall, shots were 12-6 in favor of the Orange, while Syracuse led in corners 7-3. Ohio State goalkeeper Parker Siegfried made three saves in the match.
