Big Ten Standings
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team is set to travel out west during its spring break trip for a four-game series against UNLV Friday-Tuesday in Las Vegas, Nev. The Buckeyes open the weekend vs. the Rebels at 9:05 p.m. ET Friday. First pitch for game two is at 5:05 p.m. ET Saturday, while game three is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET Sunday. The Buckeyes and Rebels wrap up the four-game series at 9:05 p.m. ET Tuesday at Earl E. Wilson Stadium at Roger Barnson Field.

BUCKEYES IN A NUTSHELL
- Ohio State went 1-2 last weekend at the 2016 Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla.
- The Buckeyes began their 133rd season with an undefeated record at the inaugural Historic Dodgertown Classic (3-0-1)
- The team is led by sixth-year head coach Greg Beals, who has taken the Buckeyes to five-consecutive B1G tournament appearances.
- Ohio State is in the Top 5 in multiple B1G offensive statistics, including first in home runs (13) and sac flies (8), tied for third in RBI (58) and fifth in slugging percentage (.411).
- The OSU pitching staff has struck out a B1G-best 106 opponent hitters to 31 walks (3.4/1). Tanner Tully and Austin Woodby are both 2-0, while Yianni Pavlopoulos has two saves.
- Brady Cherry was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week Feb. 29. He batted .444 (4-for-9) with two home runs, three RBI, three walks and 10 total bases in South Carolina.
- Jacob Bosiokovic was named Big Ten Player and a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week Feb 22. He batted .412 (7-for-17) with seven runs scored, eight RBI, three home runs during the opening weekend.
- Troy Montgomery was named a NCBWA Third Team Preseason All-American.
- Ohio State returns 20 letterwinners from 2015, including six starting position players and three starting pitchers.
- Along with Montgomery, Tully and Ronnie Dawson were named to the Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch List. Dawson was a 2014 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American.
- Ohio State will be led by one its largest senior classes in recent history – 10 members.
SCOUTING THE REBELS
2016 Record: 5-6
2015 Record: 25-31
UNLV has won three straight games following a two-game sweep at UC Riverside this week. At the plate, Payton Squier leads the team with a .429 average (18-for-42). Friday night starter D.J. Myers is 0-0 with a 3.86 ERA, fanning 20 batters to five walks. The Rebels are guided by first-year head coach Stan Stolte, who has spent the last six seasons with the Scarlet and Gray after being brought in as the associate head coach during the summer of 2010.
UNLV leads the all-time series, 3-2, after taking two of three games in Columbus in 2015. This weekend will mark the second trip to Las Vegas in program history after splitting two games during the 1998 campaign. The Buckeyes won 18-1 March 8, 1998, last time out at the Rebels’ home facility.
BASEBALL BTN COVERAGE FOR 2016
The Buckeyes will be aired on national television there times during the 2016 spring season. The team will first be on the conference network at home in the final game of the opening conference series against Northwestern at Noon ET March 27. Ohio State’s next conference game – on the road at Maryland – will be aired nationally at 5:30 p.m. ET April 8 before the final televised game on Senior Day at 3 p.m. ET May 15 against Michigan in Columbus. Nineteen home games will be streamed on BTN Plus.
ON THE ROAD
Ohio State plays its first 15 games on the road in 2016. The Buckeyes open the season with a trip down to Vero Beach, Fl. from Feb. 19-21 to play in the Historic Dodgertown Classic and face off against Toledo, Niagara and Pittsburgh. Their next action will be at the Caravelle Resort Baseball at the Beach Feb. 26-29 in in Myrtle Beach, S.C. hosted by Coastal Carolina. The Scarlet and Gray will play against Duke, Liberty and Coastal Carolina twice. The Buckeyes then finish tournament play in sunny Port Charlotte, Fla. where they will participate in the 2016 Snowbird Classic March 4-6 and square up with Seton Hall, Illinois State and Boston College. Ohio State will close out the opening month of the season with six-night, four-game series trip to Las Vegas, Nev., to play against UNLV March 11-15.
UP NEXT
Ohio State begins the 2016 home schedule March 18-20 against Hofstra at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The series marks the beginning of a six-game homestand for the Scarlet and Gray.
