MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The Ohio State baseball team suffered a 5-3 loss against Indiana Thursday to conclude the 2015 Big Ten Tournament at Target Field. With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 35-20 overall, while the Hoosiers improve to 33-21 on the year.
After the Scarlet and Gray came back to tie it at 2-all, the Hoosiers plated three runs on a two-out, bases-clearing double by Scott Donley to end OSU starting pitcher Ryan Riga’s day on the mound in the eighth. Riga received the loss to fall to 5-4, allowing five runs on six hits, three walks and seven strikeouts over 7.2 innings of work.
Indiana posted a run in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, to take a 2-0 lead. However, the Buckeyes battled back to tie it at 2-2 with a pair of runs in the seventh. A RBI groundout by Nick Sergakis made it a 2-1 contest, while Craig Nennig tied the game with a two-out RBI single through the left side vs. IU reliever Scott Effross.Ronnie Dawson and Troy Kuhn started the rally with back-to-back singles.
Riga cruised through the first three frames with three strikeouts. But a solo home run by Brad Harton made it 1-0 after four innings. A lead-off walk in the fifth came back to hurt the Buckeyes as Indiana extended its lead to 2-0 with a RBI single up the middle.
The Buckeyes collected a pair of singles in the opening two frames, but failed to score a run Hart. In the fourth, Dawson had a lead-off single, but was picked off first base by Hart. Kuhn battled Hart in a 15-pitch at bat, but flew out to right. In the fifth, Montgomery hit a line drive up the middle with two down, but was caught stealing to erase the fifth. In the ninth, Ratcliff homered vs. Halstead, but he retired the next three batters to end the game.

- With a single in the fifth, Troy Montgomery extended his reached base streak to 32-consecutive games.
- Craig Nennig boasted his 15th two-out RBI of the year.
- Troy Kuhn picked up his 11th-multi hit game of the season.
- Zach Ratcliff knocked his second home run of the year in top of the ninth.
